Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

grumppa Sat 03-Jan-15 14:16:54

Wasn't Adam's father the Travers-Macey bounder?

aggie Sat 03-Jan-15 14:20:05

Getting ready to catch up on the weeks events on the Ambridge heap. I have a feeling that something momentous is about to explode out the lagoon of old plot-lines and banalities imported from the 'Enders compendium of spin and sensation. Its all beginning to sound like a Tom Sharpe novel without the wit or Wilt, but I love it and have polished up my punt-gun of protest ready for the fray. I have a feeling that the nebulous Justin may actually turn out to be the latest re-incarnation of the fair Sir Nigel, so sadly missed. We shall see. I'm looking forward to seeing Mrs Dale, Jim and Sid Perks leading a rampant party of the Borsetshire Ramblers right through Charley and Adam's private areas. Should be fun. And Rob, our 'Svengali' - is he going to impale himself on the barbs of his own ego before young Tom gets his hands firmly on the family pitch-fork and uses it? Linda, you deserve an Oscar for your efforts to try and bring a bit of culture to the farmyard but don't go Wilde if you don't get one. Perhaps one of Kate's vegetable curries will explode all over Jennifer's new kitchen. That should bring the house down for old Brian. He might then need one of Carole's herbal possets to help cheer him up!

Ah yes, Paddy Redmond.

papaoscar Sun 04-Jan-15 12:17:06

So what happened right at the end? Was that Kate and Adam having a little Champagne-induced New Year fling? And Rob wants his own baby as well as choosing Helen's dresses and hair. He gives me the creeps.

After a brief (one year) flirtation with The Archers, I gave up listening a few months ago. I had recorded the Sunday edition and one evening sat down to really listen, rather than listen with half an ear whilst doing other things. It was then that I realised how boring it was.

However, having read papaoscar's hilarious summary of recent events, I'm realising that perhaps if I approached The Archers as if it were a comedy, it might prove to be a good deal more entertaining!

Thanks, papaoscar. You've brightened up a dreary day grin

shysal Sun 04-Jan-15 16:33:13

I record the omnibus on my TV, but it always misses off the ending, so annoying. My recording finished with Roy sobbing a message to Elizabeth. Was the 'kiss' after that, or did I just lose concentration?
I too am confused with the new voices of the youngsters. After all the years that Kate had sounded the same, I guessed the new actor meant that she was back for a long stay - what a pity, I can't stand her! I wonder if the affair she mentioned was the one featured on Ambridge Extra, or a later one.

papaoscar Sun 04-Jan-15 17:38:29

I thought Helen went outside to phone Tom who was babysitting Henry, when she blundered into a passionate and unexpected New Year lip-smacking encounter between Charlie and Adam - who is departing tomorrow for two weeks in Miami with his civil partner Ian. Why Roy was blubbering on the phone to Elizabeth was not revealed but I suspect that a severe attack of New Year double-incontinence in the trouser department had damaged his prospects of leading the conga at Grey Gables. However, I can hardly contain my indifference to the fates of this bunch of turkeys!

Iam64 Sun 04-Jan-15 20:05:34

Oh, I thought it was Kate who blundered into the passionate snog, rather than Helen. I'm in the confused of gransnet gang when it comes to identifying which of the new actors' characters is speaking.

I'm enjoying Kate's return, she never fails to live up to worst expectations.

Rob's creepy controlling behaviour continues, Helen showing too much cleavage till she wears the frock he chooses (oh Helen, mum had a frock just like that), no doubt she'll change her hair cut as he doesn't like trendy and a baby, just as she's hoping to get back to work and away from the house occasionally.

But - David and Ruth, when will the agony end.

Mishap Sun 04-Jan-15 22:17:09

I too now have no idea who is speaking - Ruth is the only one who is easily identifiable now.

Polygran Mon 05-Jan-15 05:09:50

loopylou Mon 05-Jan-15 07:19:06

Nelliemoser Mon 05-Jan-15 14:26:39

The Radio Times has as it's synopsis summary of tonight's episode as

Drum Roll! Hold your breath!

"There's a problem at Hadley Haugh"

That's the farm up north they are thinking of buying.

Gasp!

shysal Mon 05-Jan-15 17:20:29

What a surprise! (not)

merlotgran Mon 05-Jan-15 17:22:18

Handie Hoch!!

mollie65 Mon 02-Feb-15 13:22:45

papaoscar Mon 02-Feb-15 14:28:18

I think some of us have got lost in the woods up Lakey Hill. Help!

sparkygran Tue 03-Feb-15 18:58:39

Do any of you other GNetters really believe that David and Ruth will leave Brookfield????????????????? Am really interested to know

Iam64 Wed 04-Feb-15 12:31:14

Nooooo

Mishap Wed 04-Feb-15 12:35:51

Me neither - not a hope. They would have to change the name of the show as the Archers are dwindling.

grumppa Sun 15-Feb-15 11:31:09

Please, Archers script writers and editors, arrange for Pip to be crushed under the wheels of a tractor soon!

J52 Sun 15-Feb-15 12:30:46

Will Saint Shula commit perjury? X

Mishap Sun 15-Feb-15 14:13:54

Yes indeed - how will she resolve this I wonder? Perhaps she'll go and see the vicar!

Iam64 Sun 15-Feb-15 18:21:27

I don't think Shula would have lied to the police, maybe I have her wrong, but it seems out of character. Will she change her story?
