Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

Gracesgran Sat 13-Sept-14 14:24:52

grin but do you really think we should go round slapping everyone we find smug and irritating?

Gracesgran Sat 13-Sept-14 14:26:20

I would say not cmcpne smile although I haven't got into Ambridge Extra.

chloe1984 Sat 13-Sept-14 14:32:01

No of course I would not recommend slapping anyone that is smug or irritating ...well only after counselling and intensive therapy ( will now take tongue out of cheek ) I need to put on record I have never resorted to violence in my life not even when my husband of 25 years went off with a girl young enough to be my daughter. ( will now take chip firmly off shoulder)

sparkygran Sat 13-Sept-14 20:14:06

My thoughts exactly Gracesgran re Carol Tregorran and Jill`s cottage - it would make a good story line

Gracesgran Sat 13-Sept-14 21:20:45

Totally understand your feelings in that case chloe1984 smile. Wouldn't a tongue in cheek emoticon be useful!

JessM Sun 14-Sept-14 08:46:15

I only listen occasionally these days. Strikes me that over 50% of the story lines relate to the under 40s. I wonder what proportion of the listeners are in this age group. I suppose the answer is in Mumsnet somewhere...

chloe1984 Sun 14-Sept-14 09:36:28

Thanks for that Gracesgran it is now 20 years ago and all is peaceful in the Chloe household think in all honesty he realised where he would be better off! grin

merlotgran Sun 14-Sept-14 11:29:40

Will Helen fall off her horse? shock

Will Johnny cop a strop and let the bull out?

Will Mungo's middle name be Jerry?

Can't wait grin

papaoscar Sun 14-Sept-14 14:00:12

Who the hell is Johnny?

papaoscar Sun 14-Sept-14 14:01:38

And Mungo-Jerry - wasn't that in the summertime?

papaoscar Sun 14-Sept-14 14:03:42

Will the horse do us a favour and gallop off with Helen into Lakey Wood?

papaoscar Sun 14-Sept-14 14:05:35

Roy, Haley and Elizabeth -a nice little ménage-a-trois?

shysal Sun 14-Sept-14 17:02:30

papa, Johnny is Rich, who has started to call himself by his father's name. I think there will be trouble in that direction. He just turned up at the farm asking to stay.

Anne58 Sun 14-Sept-14 17:19:08

Johnny doesn't want to go to Sixth Form College in Leeds to re-do his GCSE's.

I predict that he will end up staying at Bridge Farm and doing some sort of apprenticeship at an agricultural college.

Carol will rent Jill's place, god (or perhaps more accurately the script writers) alone knows what will happen with the Roy/Hayley/Elizabeth thing!

Anne58 Sun 14-Sept-14 17:19:37

PS Mungo is preferable to Mowgli!

Penstemmon Sun 14-Sept-14 21:47:09

I am an intermittent listener to The Archers which I first heard as a small child at my Nana's.

In defence of the women:quite a few are running businesses and being pro-active in the community grin

What about Rob, Helen and Jess.. is she really pregnant? Does he really care for Helen? How old is simpering Henry? Archers script writers get very confused about language development of small children confused

Mishap Sun 14-Sept-14 21:50:04

And Tom will reappear and have his nose put out of joint to find Johnny has his feet well and truly under the table!

annodomini Sun 14-Sept-14 22:12:16

St Mungo, patron saint of Glasgow; Mungo Park (1771 - 1806), famous Scottish explorer of Africa. Why give this child a Scottish name?

merlotgran Sun 14-Sept-14 22:14:04

Well, if Helen breaks her neck drag hunting, (very fast) Tom doesn't return and Tony has another heart attack, the future of Bridge Farm will be in the hands of a pre-school thug who needs speech therapy and his poorly educated, teenage second cousin with an identity crisis. hmm

Nanabelle Sun 14-Sept-14 22:46:38

phoenix - did you write the script for tonight's episode?!
I wish we could hear more about Tom - ridiculous that he is never mentioned.

Anne58 Sun 14-Sept-14 22:54:00

Nanabelle no! (re the script, that is) wish I could though!

Please fill me in as to why you asked???? grin

Anne58 Sun 14-Sept-14 22:54:58

PS Tom was sort of mentioned, well, his overalls were confused

mollie65 Mon 15-Sept-14 06:59:40

just caught up with the omni version yesterday am.
so 'Johnny' who is a 16 year old from Leeds is able to milk a cow, tame a bull and 'do all the right things' - a tad unbelievable (writing as someone who grew up on a farm).
I too wondered why Tom is not being mentioned (who was able to go and work in Canada within weeks - writing as someone who used to live in Canada)
I feel sometimes the script writers are a little lazy with reality but after all it is no worse than other soaps grin
loved the conversations/gossip between clarry and susan - much more true to life.

suzied Mon 15-Sept-14 07:05:54

I haven't worked out the relationship between Lillian and Linda, James and Leonie, who is who's mother? Who are/ were the grandfathers? (Of little Mowgli/ Mungo). Anyone up to speed?

mollie65 Mon 15-Sept-14 07:21:09

how sad am I - but here goes:
Lillian is James's mother (they are both bellamy) (James's father is dead)
Linda is married to Robert who is Leonie's father (so she is Leonie's step-mother)
I don't think Leonie and James are married (yet!)
Leonie's sister (Coriander) had a child called Oscar (now mercifully absent from the script) and is married to someone whose name escapes me.
hope that helps smile
