Ingredients600g diced beef200g shallots (peeled and quartered) 6 rashers bacon (diced) 187ml (small bottle) red wine 2 tbsp tomato paste 1 beef stock pot (28g) 150ml water 2 garlic cloves (minced) 2 tbsp plain flour Pinch of salt and pepper 1 tsp dry mixed herbs 2 bayleaves 1 tbsp olive oil |
Handy HintA great way to use a cheap cut of beef and some left over red wine. Serve with rice or mashed potato. |

Method1. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan2. Fry the bacon til just turning crispy - put in the slow-cooker. 3. Fry the beef til just browned all over - put in the slow-cooker. 4. Fry the onion and garlic for about 1 minute, add the flour, stock pot and water, stir well til heated - put in the slow-cooker. 5. Add the seasonings and wine 6. Mix together 7. Set the slow cooker on low and cook for 8 hours. 8. Add the mushrooms 1 hour before the end. | |||||||||||||||||||
