We saw this film today and can recommend it . British bull doggedness ( if that is a word) at its finest. Raised a few laughs too and was thoroughly watchable

of course the title should read Eddie ....note to self - turn the light on when typing !!

We saw it yesterday and throughly enjoyed it - may have had something to do with Hugh Jackman but found it entertaining and very uplifting. Had to come home and 'Google' Eddie just to look at his background and what he is doing now.

Hugh was a bit lush wasn't he wink

You know we came home and did exactly the same Chloe . I do remember it at the time but I wasn't that interested or at least don't remember being so but the film was lovely . I was so impressed by how he just kept getting knocked back and then got up and tried again.

I've heard from several people that its a real 'feelgood' film. I want to see it now!

Brilliant film, very moving, take tissues...

Eddie seems to be doing just fine!! He was on our BBC local news the other week.

However, he would have liked a cameo part in the film but wasn't offered one (similar to John le Carre [accent] playing a restaurant customer in the Night Manager).

He was worried people may laugh - but in fact how many of us were good enough to take part in the Winter Olympics even if he didn't win?

What a shame he wasn't offered a cameo role. It would have added to it -we could have been looking out for him.

I agree he should have got a cameo.
The film was great and he sounds great.

I've been wanting to see this, mainly because I'm a big Hugh Jackman fan smile

Cant't wait to see it. Used to chat to Eddie at Snowdome Tamworth when I used to take kids from my school to ski and snowboard there- as he was one of the ski instructors. He thought it was hilarious that I was learning to snowboard with my 6th formers- aged 50 and a 'big girl'.

Seeing it tomorrow, thanks to all these positive reviews. Eddie was such a character. I have clear memories of him planning to visit Plymouth and turning up in Portsmouth instead, or maybe that was vice versa. He went to the wrong place anyway!

I went to see it yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It sounds silly but watching on television I had never realised quite how terrifyingly high those jumps are.

granjura Sat 16-Apr-16 09:18:36

I stood at the top of the Olympic one in Grenoble when I was a teenager- particularly impressive as it was built over the town, with the valley below. Never been afraid of heights, as I grew up in mountains- but there is NO WAY I could have hurled myself down that chute!

Deedaa Sat 16-Apr-16 22:52:05

And there's the fact that the only way you can learn to do it is to hurl yourself down! You can learn the technique and build up strength and stamina , but at some point you've got to do the jump.
