Just watched two episodes back to back. Absolutely brilliant,

kittylester Fri 10-Apr-15 07:18:22

I love it too Jo. We enjoyed the first series although some of them are quite dark!

J52 Fri 10-Apr-15 08:42:20

I also enjoy this series, the twists at the end are brilliant. I did't work out the latest one! x

J52 Fri 10-Apr-15 08:43:41

I meant before the ending, not that I didn't understand it. grin x

I am a fan too, absolutely fantastic. Last night's final twist was a real shock, I did not see that coming at all. I am full of admiration for both of them, so talented and versatile.

This is tv at its best. I was actually moved to tears (and I am a hardened old bat) by the Sheridan Smith story and was creased with laughter at the couchette one. Wonderful

Jane10 Fri 10-Apr-15 09:03:51

Gosh-sounds so good. I must seek it out. Thanks!

J52 Fri 10-Apr-15 09:32:54

Is anybody watching 'Nurse'? Paul Whitehouse, another brilliant series. Bitter/sweet observations. x

jo1book Fri 10-Apr-15 09:35:23

I will look up this, Paul Whitehouse very talented.

TerriBull Fri 10-Apr-15 09:45:04

Yes J52 I watch "Nurse", like many of Paul Whitehouse programmes very clever, and poignant at times. He's funny and a marvellous character actor at the same time, his portrayals are very well drawn. I'm sorry to have missed Inside No 9, must try and catch up with it on BBC Iplayer.

J52 Fri 10-Apr-15 09:48:21

I should have said Nurse is on BBC 2, I watched it on I player, so I don't know what time. There have been 4 episodes, that might be all there is for the time being.

There has been praise from mental health professionals for the way the illness has been portrayed. I found it very moving. x

cazthebookworm Fri 10-Apr-15 10:20:55

Nurse, BBC 2 Tuesdays 10 pm, marvellous, very poignant, so well observed, and yes, very moving. I've never seen the woman before who plays the nurse. She is also extremely good, plays the role so well. I've always admired Paul Whitehouse, do you remember The Fast Show? Some brilliant characters in that, every sketch was so funny, hard to pick a favourite

J52 Fri 10-Apr-15 10:26:06

I have seen the actor who plays the nurse before, but in bit parts of other dramas. She seems type cast to anxious characters. Must look up her name! x

I love Inside No.9 and am a great fan of Sheersmith and Pemberton. I really liked Psychoville.

I was wondering where Nurse had gone this week. That was a short run - very good though.

jo1book Fri 10-Apr-15 11:06:43

So did I. I like all black comedy, as you do get a better portrayal of life as it really is. Most of life, I find, ridiculous. We are born, we live and we die so let's have a laugh.

suzied Fri 10-Apr-15 11:28:54

Which channel was inside no 9 on? Am always looking for good stuff to watch. Have finished House of Cards and Better Call Saul so feeling a bit bereft.

Pittcity Fri 10-Apr-15 11:55:36

BBC 2 suzied

Jane10 Fri 10-Apr-15 12:04:17

Re Nurse: I looked forward to it so much as I'm a great fan of Paul Whitehouse however, I found I actually couldn't bear to watch it. It came just too close to real life. The CPN was VG. A painful programme though, very well done but just not funny to laugh at these unfortunate (and entirely recognisable) characters.

jo1book Fri 10-Apr-15 12:10:02

BBC2, Suzied. Isn't Better Call Saul terrific! I have also enjoyed 30 degrees in February on Sky Arts. Swedish with subs. but I was impressed with the storylines; especially concerning the browbeaten elderly lady! But then Scandi drama is good. I shall be watching Mad Men tonight. My complete and utter fave. If you haven't seen it, give the first box set a try. You will get hooked or not.
Did you know that you can get a lot of stuff cheaply or even by down loading to your pc and then plugging into the television. Google will tell you where to go.

Ana Fri 10-Apr-15 12:11:45

I didn't think it was supposed to be a comedy. There were some funny bits, especially involving the obese man and his mum, but I thought the characters were very sympathetically drawn and played.

I especially liked the shots of the CPN in her car, trying to grab a bite to eat while also trying to sort out childcare and deal with her ex-partner on the phone. Health workers have their own problems too!

Ana Fri 10-Apr-15 12:12:25

(My post was to Jane10)

suzied Fri 10-Apr-15 18:34:29

I didn't think Better Call Saul would be on a par with Breaking Bad which was my all time favourite and I still miss it, but it's getting close. I love House of cards as well. I think in the next series in 2016, Clare is going to run for the presidency like Hilary Clinton.

KatyK Fri 10-Apr-15 19:13:21

I love Inside No. 9. the last series was really good too.

Lovely to catch a rare sight of David Warner last night. I saw his Hamlet in the 60's and went to see his film Morgan, A Suitable Case For Treatment about 6 times.
