The 'Don't Mention the War' episode. Especially where he thinks the Moose head on the wall can speak.

I love the one with Basil's response to a guest's complaint about the view from the bedroom window -

"Well may I ask what you expected to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain..."

I found it very irritating.

Love all the episodes. I think the scene which sticks in my mind most is the one where Basil beats the hell out of his car with a tree branch..
And the one where he fetches what he thinks is a cooked duck from another restaurant only to discover that it's mousse! Love it.....

That's my favourite episode too henetha. "I've laid it on the line with you time and time again........." Said whilst beating the poor car with half a tree ! Classic

Mine is the rat and the food inspector. Manuel trying to escape from the drunken cook who was infatuated with him. Love Fawlty Towers.

I agree with you, when, though when I see a description of any other episode, that one becomes my favourite until I read the next one!

Basil the Siberian Hamster is my favourite too.

So hard to choose but I love beating the car, the deaf old lady, the dead guest and "Is not rat is hamster"

He put Basil in the ratatouille !!!!

I dislike the shouting school of comedy so this wasn't really my thing. Nor did I find Manuel being knocked about very amusing but I know I'm in the minority.

I loved them all, I think! 'Basil, the Siberian Hamster' was so funny - Manuel serenading the creature with his guitar....laughing to myself just thinking about it!

I can't understand what anyone sees in John Clease. I don't find him funny at all - rather silly in fact. I also couldn't stand Peter Sellers (Sellars)

The hotel inspector and the rat [especially when it makes an appearance in the box of crackers [to go with the cheese]. The wedding guest one is good too though, and also the deaf cantankerous old lady episode. Hard to choose between those 3 but the rat one just wins.

My absolute favourite comedy. I loved them all. Particularly liked the episode when the kitchen caught fire.

I think what's so brilliant about Fawlty Towers is that even the "bit" characters are so well written - the old major, the two elderly ladies, the useless odd job man, the various customers.

I can't choose they were all so funny.
