Traveling here for a funeral and looking for advice on hotels?

dogsmother Tue 13-Oct-26 10:10:11

Nobody know the area?

There seems quite an assortment on TripAdvisor - ranging from traditional hotels to both a Travelodge and a Premier Inn.
Unfortunately, I can’t help with a personal recommendation.

I believe Grammaretto is in the Borders - you could try a PM to her.

We have had a second home in the region for many years. It depends on whether you actually want to be in Dumfries itself or out in the countryside. In Dunfries The Carndale has a good reputation and Spa facilities. Also for just an overnight stop the Premier Inn on the A75 is a good option.

Sorry misspelt Cairndale Hotel

More rural is the Hetland Hall, just before getting to Dumfries on the A75.

I’d like to say that I am very well informed about staying in Dumfries. I’ve stayed there often and the best, place I’ve stayed at is Hamilton House B&B in Moffat Road. I can’t praise it highly enough. Beautiful, friendly, spotlessly clean, fabulous breakfast. A home from home.

I don't know where I would stay but there are plenty of places so why not choose somewhere near the church or crematorium?

I always plump for Premier Inn you know what you ate getting a comfy bed and good breakfast at a reasonable pricr
