De-icer

Tepid water usually does the trick for me.

I once poured boiling water over a frozen windscreen.............good job replacement did not affect insurance!

Reminder to self: remove de-icer from tray under passenger seat...

PS - it's easier for men to de-ice a frozen lock....

It took me a few seconds to see what you meant! I can't say I have ever seen a man trying this! (Only helping with jellyfish stings).

I finally went out yesterday to Halfords and bought one of those plastic cover thingies for the top half of the car so the windows don't get iced up.

Living in the Alps, at the same altitude as Snowdon, I have a full cover for my car,but if it gets covered in deep snow it is just as hard to clean off - if it is not too heavy, I can pull it off. I have bought ropes that are easy to unknot, as trying to take apart frozen knots with ski gloves on is quite hard.
My worst nightmare is having to put on chains - I have to carry them in the car by law, but they are murder to attach. As I have a 4 x 4, I can usually manage without them.
