Text messages not sounding an alert on iPhone

Good morning, is there a techy GN who can point us in the right direction please?
DH has an iPhone Max and is not receiving any text alerts.
We have tried all the help on You Tube and cannot seem to fix it.
Last week, we did have a short success, but since then , nothing.
So, would be very grateful for any help to solve the problem.

Have you checked that you haven't turned off sounds? Go to Settings/Sounds and haptics, and make sure that you have a tone chosen for texts.

Also ensure that you haven't set the phone to do Not Disturb. Swipe down from the top right, and you'll see a moon icon. Check that this has 'Focus' next to it, rather than Sleep, or DND.

Also, does your husband use an Apple Watch? If so, check that he hasn't set Theatre settings on there that are synched to his phone.

Good luck - it's so frustrating when you can't get out of situations like this.

Thanks Doodle. Tried all that, now back to DD, as it was her phone and she probably, hopefully, has a fix. 🤞

The little switch on the side? the one above the volume buttons. Is that up or down? If it is down the sound is switched off.

Have just come back from my chemo treatment and DH is still fiddling!
