What do all these abbreviations mean?

Sorry to sound stupid, but I can't make head nor tail of all these abbreviations. What on earth does DD DS GC etc mean??? I honestly have tried to think of what they could be but have got no where! Please someone enlighten me on what I am obviously missing out on!!

Thanks so much Ana and baubles. Don't think I have called any of my four children or husband " dearest or darling" for quite some time!!!grin but now I know, it's all so obvious!!!! Thanks again. Just going to show off to DH, LOL

It can also mean Darned or whatever alternative you can come up with grin

I have noticed if I take a long time to type a post it will suddenly disappear. Is there a time out mechanism?
