Hello, I've just received an obvious scam email saying the payment for my TV licence has failed, and I need to pay now (yeah right !), the latter part of the email address it came from had an Indian womans name followed by artweinspire.com, no mention of my name, and I pay for TV licence by DD, which is not short of funds, email now deleted, so be alert folks, the third time this year people have tried (unsuccessfully) to scam me !.........wink

Desperados. Not intelligent ones,either.

Well spotted, Cillafan! You ticked every warning sign: no name, a strange sender address, and "pay now" pressure. 👏

they either think they're smart, or think we're stupid...

I have a couple a day from these people saying my payment has failed! Rubbish. I have a direct debit and it went through this week.

Gingster Wed 07-Oct-26 20:04:36

Yes I’ve had these too.
Ignore them!

They’ll stop at nothing 😡. I had a call recently because my purchase of an iPhone through Amazon had failed and the transaction of almost £1000 needed to be made again and could I give them the 16 digit number on my card over the phone……….as if!! Told her where to go in no uncertain terms!

Good for you astitchintime 👍

I had a tv licence failed to collect your direct debit, please update your details email. Yes a scam I deleted. I’m still nearly competent. Dread to think if I’ll be conned as I age

Jojo1950 Sat 10-Oct-26 13:52:36

Thanks for the warnings. I’ve had the TV licence one today!! Deleted.

We are heading towards Christmas. There will be a lot of scams !!!
I’m not shopping this year.
My card was used in London a while ago. The cheeky chaps bought Mac Donald meals and videos for an evening of fun!! 🤷‍♀️
Not fun for me having to sort it all out with credit card company.
My DIL had similar but her fraud happened in the far east and she was in a completely different part of the world? 🤷‍♀️

Well done Cillafan. More of us need to do what you did. I send those emails to:
report phishing.gov.uk
Then I double delete them.

It’s frightening to think that somebody with less mental acuity might go along with this.

WoodLane7 Sat 10-Oct-26 14:11:09

I have had a text saying the same; again I know its scam because
A)not due yet
B) It is paid by D/D
C) They wouldn't send a text anyway

I've just posted about this on the earlier post today. I've had lots and despite blocking sender they keep on coming!

Jules777 Sat 10-Oct-26 15:26:35

I've also had several dozen, all to an email address not associated with my TV licence renewal, and they got the renewal date completely wrong too. All have been reported as phishing, and unsubscribed. They then just slightly change their email address and try again. It's laughable really. Then there's the gambling ones, free spins etc, usually in French or Dutch, all ignored. Been going on for years, and I've never responded to them. Why don't they just give up?

Cillafan Sat 10-Oct-26 16:19:59

Yes, this the third time this year scammers have attempted to defraud me, I've read up on all the tactics they use, I recognised them all, they all want locking up !......smile

Before you delete them forward them to phishing.gov.uk . The more that are reported the quicker they can be dealt with!

Yes, a couple of days ago 'Bank security' phoned me about a transaction for Amazon for £700, press one, etc; no mention of my name or Bank's name, do they think we're born yesterday ?!!........grin

Actually, a lot more than you think; gdprcourse.co.uk/blog/phishing-statistics-uk

Before you block them, send an email, attach a screenshot of the scam if it's a message and send to
