Congratulations to Sagal Adbi-Wali for winning this seat.

An extremely courageous woman with real compassion for her community and drive to improve things.

Came here as a child refugee.

The Burnham bounce continues.

The Greens did better than I expected, given their recent issues, it will be interesting to see if that is a single constituency success, or is carried through to the next by election.

I’m pleased to see that the Tories beat Reform too, it looks like the Tory revival/Reform slump is slowly gathering pace.

Well done 👏

Congratulations, Sagal.

The hard right did about the same as in 2024 when Reform won 2,371 votes but split this time between Reform 1612 and Restore 692 (total 2,304) which is more than the Tories managed on 1,922.

Presumably Andrew Feinstein’s votes from 2024 (7,312) went to the Greens.

Casdon Fri 09-Oct-26 10:50:54

The split on the right is what is making the difference I agree Graphite, but that is very significant in itself because it greatly reduces Reform’s chances of winning seats, so in electoral terms, it’s a slump.

So the turn out was 38.8% she got 45% of that... so over 60% couldn't be bothered to vote.

I'm surprised at that.

Thank goodness and a relief that Polanski didn't win.
The new MP sounds a very impressive woman.

MartavTaurus Fri 09-Oct-26 11:28:44

I'm ok with that. Good for her.
That Polanski guy is awful.

That’s not good at all, but th result is the important thing.

I wish there was a way to motivate people more, it’s so important everyone uses their vote.

He’s a very odd person. I really liked Caroline Lucas, don’t know much about the two who succeeded her.

I agree, Casdon. The hard right are making no inroads in London.

From what I can gather, the Reform candidate (who had already lost two local elections) barely received any support from the senior members of the party compared to the noise they made in say, Caerphilly, Gorton & Denton and Makerfield.

Stand up to Racism did a good job disrupting Tyler Johnson’s campaign for Restore after he bought in people from the fascist BNP and Homeland Party to support him.

I was a very low turnout. More than 6 in 10 people in the constituency didn’t bother to vote. Of those who did, more than 50% didn't get the representation they asked for. Democracy needs PR.

Let’s hope so, I have no issues with Tories in opposition! Good strong opposition is always welcome.

The only poll that matters.

Galaxy Fri 09-Oct-26 11:53:09

Caroline Lucas is partly why the greens are in this mess. She is beginning to panic now she has realised what she has unleashed.

So depressing :-(

Oreo Fri 09-Oct-26 12:03:42

Well that’s a relief, Greens not winning, but they came second which is bad enough.
The turnout was appallingly low.

Galaxy Fri 09-Oct-26 12:05:04

I am relieved that they didnt win, and I hope this will be the beginning of the end for them, Polanski will be gone soon I think.

Oreo Fri 09-Oct-26 12:12:56

Hope so!

Casdon Fri 09-Oct-26 12:17:17

The Greens did get their second best ever by election result though, I don’t think they are done yet.

Galaxy Fri 09-Oct-26 12:24:02

That is the scary part.

Cossy Fri 09-Oct-26 12:32:41

Well, if push came to shove, not that either are my first choice or even second, I’d rather have Greens than Reform or Restore

Galaxy Fri 09-Oct-26 13:08:37

I view them as the most dangerous so I wouldnt.

Galaxy Fri 09-Oct-26 13:08:57

I dont really count Restore in my thinking I suppose.

Cossy Fri 09-Oct-26 13:09:33

I absolutely understand the crucial of Polanski, but why would you wish to see “an end of the Green Party”?

If, and I hope they do, they return to their grass roots and become the party of ecological preservation and caring about our planet, why is this such a bad thing?

Cossy Fri 09-Oct-26 13:11:56

Sorry my first line should read, “criticism” not “crucial”.
