He was saying that Russia would not attack the US miners in Ukraine. As that would be an attack on the US.
So that would protect Ukraine, by the US miners being there.

Zelenskyy could sign a mineral deal alongside giving Russia the land it has annexed and Trump could well suddenly find a reason not to mine in Ukraine, - too difficult, not sufficient minerals etc. and it would be left exposed to Russia.

I believe he wants to halt the war in Ukraine so that their valuable minerals can be mined and used for the benefit of US, likely businesses he can benefit from and to avoid the supply from China. Ukraine is simply a business deal in waiting, it means nothing to him likewise Europe.

That is where contract lawyers and their like would come into play. Not that I really know much about such things.

Have read up on it: its a speech to Congress on a number of points, domestic as well as foreign - a sort of State of the Union speech - read up on what to look for here, but yes will include Ukraine.

Whatever he is announcing it will not be the kind of political statement one would expect from an emotionally mature adult.
It will be as damaging as it is risible, and he and his lunatic cronies will just love to see the mayhem that ensues.
