I think it means you get £20 ...one Christmas bonus each but I might be wrong.

I noticed £10 extra deposited in my account from same account pension comes from. Didn't have a letter about it so did wonder what it was for.

When it was first launched, my late Mum used it for Christmas presents! £5 to me, £3 to DH, and £1 each to DDs! Last of the big spenders was she!

Max allowed is £10 each person.

I never got a letter either but £10 has gone in I thought my friend said she had had a letter but I didn’t

I really don’t need this. Do any of us. It would be better to be put into Elderly carere, homelessness - anything really!

The £10 bonus started in the early 1970s and has not increased in all that time.

when it was launched my nan bought herself a new winter coat and still had change to buy us lunch! And just think how many £10s have been saved by not having to pay the WASPI generation

Shelagh6 I agree with you. As with the winter fuel allowance, if one is in the fortunate position of not needing it, there are plenty of charities who would be grateful to receive it.

I suppose it is at least an acknowledgement of our continuing existence ...much to the annoyance of the government ! In France pensioners receive a 'Prime de Noel; which is a lot of money, AS WELL AS a lot for summer called 'Prime de vacation !'

When the Christmas bonus came out many years ago it was very useful. Now it probably does cost more in admin. I suppose they should really scrap it. I worked in a post office then and the people who received it were very grateful.

The £10 bonus is actually enshrined in law. To change it or abolish it would take a lot of time and hence cost that's why it's always pushed out of Parliament when anyone brings it up. Not the same with the winter fuel allowance, that isn't law, it's a concession from which ever goverment is in power.
