I receive Martin Lewis's money saving e.mails every week and at the beginning of this month read about the Marriage Allowance refund via HMRC for a partner whose other half does not use their tax allowance.I knew nothing about this and thought the tax refunded last year when I officially retired was my last refund due.
Not so because my OH had also officially retired yrs before me and I could transfer his allowance to my tax account.
I filled in the forms on 8th of this month on line and yesterday received quite a substancial cheque from Mr Tax Man.
I hope everyone who may be in the same boat as I was and working after partner has retired etc just reads the web site you may be fortunate to have £s refunded,it is back payable and I received all the years I had missed out on.
