Debt mostly repaid

Some of you may remember I posted about a debt of £3.5 k which my dd owed and hadn't mentioned repaying.
I just wanted to update, and say she has paid me £2.5 which was a surprise as I hadn't mentioned anything about it for a couple of months,having thought I'd have to write it off.
I was upset at the time, not especially about the non payment but felt it was a lack of respect, and dd just assuming it would be OK to not mention it again.
I'm so happy that she has paid the majority of it back, as it shows to me she does have some respect for us!
I'm now hopeful the rest will come at some point in the future.?

What a lovely surprise for you. I bet you felt on top of the world knowing that she had realised what she owes you and cared enough to do something about it!

We were in a similar situation many years ago.
Dad upgraded his car and we bought the 'old'one for £1000.
We handed over monthly instalments and were delighted when dad wrote off the last £200.
Bearing that in mind I've done the same for my own DCs.
However, when my daughter got married and her cash was vanishing fast, she asked if I'd put the wedding rings on my credit card for her to repay. 2 years on she seems to have forgotten the last £200.
In other circumstances I'd write it off but at the time I made it very clear that this was a special purchase and I felt it really had to be their responsibility.
(Her father and I footed pretty well all the other bills).
Time to remind her or forget it?
