Contactless

I really dislike them. I've already got three of them and have bought covers for them to protect from fraud and for out passports. It really annoys me that I don't want them and have to have them unless I change my accounts.

No, I didn't know that! Not that I ever use it, but worth knowing.

Im with the Halifax stansgran and they let you opt out of contactless. My new card was due in November and I popped into my local branch about 6 weeks before and they sorted it in minutes.

That's interesting, but I wouldn't be without contactless .... ... use it on the tube everyday like an oyster card.
I can't see how the paper receipt is a big problem if people don't know your other details like pin number etc.

Actually, the OP is wrong. I've been to wait rose twice today and both times the receipt shows only the last four digit.

I've used contactless since its inception and never had a problem. All my receipts show only the last four digits.

I've never seen any debit/credit card receipt showing all digits.

Which bank are you with OP?

My Co Op receipt only shows the last four digits.

The Co-op will change your contactless card to non-contact if you ask.

I'm with HSBC and they changed my contactless card to non-contact.

I think I read that it's against the data protection act for your full number to be printed anywhere.

I use my contactless card a lot. I'm quite happy with the security, no faffing about with PIN numbers, and its so useful for the small amounts I spend ... i.e. village shop for a paper and a pint of milk. I think has a £20 max limit, so for everything else like supermarket shopping I go down the PIN route. You can buy special wallets to protect the card from being scanned while in your bag or pocket, but I think that's a bit OTT. But, it adds an extra layer of security, if you are nervous.

I use my contactless card regularly and none of my receipts have the full number printed, only the last four digits, as usual.
I believe most banks will issue a non-contactless card on request, but I'm happy to continue using mine as it is so much easier, and it's only for transactions of £30 and under.

Well, we all sound pretty sensible, and yes the spending power has gone up from £20 to £30 with contactless.
I know fraud is a terrible thing, but I do hate people scaremongering others unnecessarily. Maybe the OP was trying to be helpful, but it does send others into a tizz.
