How can you help your heirs

wish I knew about that site when my husband died! I had a nightmare sorting stuff out and mainly googled and was led to no end of different sites, whereas this site has all the info in one place.

This is excellent and I will be getting the husband to look at it ... I dread him popping his clogs (not that I'm expecting it any time soon I hasten to add!!!) and being left to find all his myriad of bank accounts!

What an excellent idea, when my mother died, I was at a loss as to where all her papers were and where to start. I will certainly be looking into this for all our information to be held in one safe place to assist our children at a difficult time.

I have a spreadsheet of where everything financial is and the filing system if straightforward. The spreadsheet shows what kind of account it is ie ISA, Easy Access, Fixed term. I have told them all about it and also left a note with the wills. I update it regularly because I am financially minded and have asked DH to do the same with all the insureance.

Yes Nonnie I'm the same. Once a year, or thereabouts, I update my list.
Everything necessary is in one folder showing where everything is together with Wills.
When we go away we leave the folder out on a dining room chair away from the window and DDs know this.
I suppose it will be Sod's law that the one time we DON'T leave it out they'll need it! But it's only in the writing desk.

I had a spreadsheet too, which was fine I thought until the laptop decided to crash and all data was lost. My fault for no back-up.

Just logged onto this site to take a look after reading the posts...like most people I have a list but prefer it to be all in one place. The Share and Forget site is very comprehensive covering things I hadnt even considered!

Mentioned it to my kids, they were like 'welcome to the 21st Century Gran!!' why have lists when we have Iphones.

Felt so old!
