Where there’s a Will there’s a way?

My husband made a new Will when we married 7 years ago. This week I wanted to make sure my daughter was “protected” as he has 2 adult children from a previous marriage so asked to see the Will. He then found out the family Solicitors (he’d used for years) had been closed down by the Regulator
& the main Solicitor taken to court some 2 years ago for some dealings where clients money was missing. There was email addresses to contact for info which bounced back as not existing.This solicitor also holds our House deeds & maybe other important documents.We were not contacted by the regulator & are now left scrabbling to find out any information about his Will etc. Just a warning to check that your Will is safe & to maybe make sure you have a hard copy too. (My husband hasn’t as he trusted this Company) We thought all was sorted, our kids would’ve struggled with all this.

We had a similar thing happen a couple of years ago when we heard via a local television programme that the solicitors who held our wills had gone into administration. We phoned a number that was given out to find out where they were. They were transferred to a safe with another firm but we had to find out for ourselves, no one informed us. We did have copies but our daughter would have had to find the originals.

I think your daughter will be alright/protected by you. I hope your husband has made provisions for his daughters from his previous marriage.
Very often the new wife makes sure that her children are well taken care of and the children by the first wife are totally left out.
