Anyone on Dapagliflozin and had Thrush - Advice please

I am on dapaglifliozin and was told to cut out sugar as much as possible. I have done and been OK. The Pumping Marvellous website has lots of information for heart failure patients. Worth a look.Hope you feel better soon

Thanks Grannydaisy I don't really eat much, if any, sugar, so hard to reduce that. I was told to drink lots to dilute the urine and I have been using my water spray after toileting with the same intention. Have had a look at the Pumping Marvellous website already, but will have another look for help with this specific problem. I'm going to give the Dapagliflozin another go, but if this happens again I am not willing to continue indefinitely. I see the consultant again in a few weeks - I'll have to see what else he can offer.

Live yoghurt is a great help . You can eat it and also put some on a bit of kitchen roll to drain for a few minutes and apply to your nether region . My husband once got up in the middle of the night to drive 14 miles to an all night Asda to get me some as I was in agony with rampant thrush . I then discovered I had developed type 2 diabetes and this was a warning sign .

Thank you Floradora that's good to know but I'm really asking how to stop it coming back! The Canestan works a treat, but I don't want to keep getting it over and over again.

I was given this medication two years ago to reduce my blood sugar levels. I have Type 2 diabetes.

Within a week, I had an attack of thrush. I stopped taking the medication.

Earlier this year, I was advised to take it again. They said to persevere, along with drinking lots of water, and as the sugar levels in the urine dropped, the thrush should ease off. After six weeks of thrush - not a full blown attack, but a droning in the background type of thrush - I contacted the surgery to say I couldn't take the medication any longer. It was making my life a misery.

Strangely though, my friend has started taking it and her only side effect is that she's lost loads of weight. She has had no signs of thrush at all. Which only shows that everybody is different.

Oh thank you Supernana. Yes, mine came on very soon after starting the tablets and it has been a miserable few weeks. I'm willing to give it another go - I'll wait till I feel this attack has really gone, but I'm not prepared to put up with it long term if it keeps coming back. I don't have diabetes "just" the heart failure.
My partner, (male) takes it for his Type 2 diabetes and has no side effects, but he of course hasn't got the twiddly bits!
