Micro-suction ear clearing

Just had my ears done with this procedure- wonderful . Costa lotta but worth it. The nurse was very careful and also explained which ear drops are good and which are not so good for me personally ( narrow tubes) . I had been using the wrong sort for my particular ears and just made the problem worse ,so good to know. Horrified at the amount of gunk that was retrieved- years and years of build up and I hadn’t even noticed until recently.

My DH has had his ears ‘vacuumed’ about five times in the last year or so. The wax is more of a problem since he started wearing hearing aids. He now puts oil in very regularly, the spray sort, not drops, as recommended by the audiologist. He also has awkward tubes.

Specsavers has taken on wax removal from the NHS, at least in our area, but no use to DH.

You still have to make an appointment with the GP to ascertain you have wax (hello), then get sent home to apply oil for weeks, return to GP for him to then refer you to SS.

Can take up to 8 weeks.

So, we keep paying SS to do it privately, but quickly.

I have mine done at least yearly at a local pharmacy, it is expensive. As advised, I use Earol once a week to try and lessen the wax build up.
