Similar things have happened to me with my husband and the GP.
Ring the surgery (or your husband) ring the surgery and explain how worried and anxious you are.
Ask if they can you any further information or be able to put your mind at rest.
My surgery have always been very helpful in this regard.
They also have written permission that they can talk to me about my his health.

Try not to worry. It can be any number of things which the GP feels will be best dealt with face to face such as low thyroid hormone levels, anaemia, low vitamin D or abnormal calcium level. or raised cholesterol. Just wait and see what the doctor says . It is too early to worry about it. If it was anything very important the appt would be today.
