Colonoscopy/ Diverticulosis?

Hello, I had a Colonoscopy on Monday the 20th May 2019 which I was diagnosed with Diverticulosis which is very inflamed. I had 4 biopsy’s taken which will take 2 or 3 weeks for the results. I was having bleeding and Trouble with going to the toilet, that’s why I went to my own doctor.
My question is another forum said you don’t bleed with Diverticulosis, they haven’t been very helpful with my questions, so would anyone here be able to put some light of this for me please. I haven’t been given anything for the Condition as yet, ( waiting for results) does anyone else on this forum have the same problem or has had? Thank you.

I had a CT scan recently and was diagnosed with diverticulosis. It just means I have pouches in my large intestine. They do not treat it until it becomes diverticulitis. This is when it becomes inflamed and painful. I recently had a bowel test and there was no bleeding. I do find, however, that I have more flatulence than I used to have and put it down to that.

I’m a nurse although I am now retired however I can recall that patients with diverticulitis can get bleeding particularly when it’s in the lower bowel so try not to be alarmed and wait for your test results. If anything more sinister was seen during the colonoscopy they wouldn’t be asking you to wait.

About 10 years ago I had bleeding and frequent bowel movements . My grandmother died from bowel cancer and my mother had ulcerative colitis and subsequent colostomy .I was naturally worried but my biopsies were normal and I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. With a change of diet it was completely cured.
