steroid injections for arthritis

My mother used to have them for rheumatoid arthritis. She said they nearly always worked and gave a lot of relief. My DH had one after falling off his bike. He damaged his shoulder and it worked well in helping to heal it. Go for it!

My husband has them for his RA, they do usually ease his aches and pains in his joints for sometime.

I had a steroid injection inserted in my left knee about 4 weeks ago- only the local anaesthetic worked, the steroid did not kick in. It does not act immediately but if it does work it should help if only temporarily- ie a few weeks.

I had one in my foot a couple of years ago and it worked well, after an initial few hours. I asked my doctor how long the effect would last and he said "wait and see!". I think it varies from one person to another.
My arthritis outbreaks seem to follow a pattern - very painful on and off for a few weeks/months. Then when the bony lump has formed the pain seems to settle down -fingers crossed.)

I had one for my bursitis, did nothing. A doctor friend says really need a scan first to get the right place. The consultant just asked me to put my finger where the pain was worst, one of us must have got it wrong

I had one for bursitis in February. Worked instantly and completely got rid of the pain. But it's now coming back. Not sure how long it usually lasts, but I had hoped for longer.
