Eye laser for short sight.

I would like to know about it too. Does it cure longsightedness as well? I am shortsighted but also now finding it difficult to thread needles or read small print.

My daughter had successful laser surgery
10 years ago for short-sightedness. At 40 she now need reading glasses. She occasionally suffers dry eyes but that problem is easily solved.

I have family members who've had it done and I'm sure they now have to wear glasses again after a few years. To me it doesn't seem worth it if sight is going to deteriorate again. I'm not sure if this happens to everyone though.

I do not want to be a gloom merchant but do your homework if you are going to have it done because you only have two eyes.

Yes, I had it done about ten years ago and best £3k I've ever spent!
I was very short sighted with astigmatism in one eye and immediately afterwards I sat up and could see perfectly. What a revelation. I'd been wearing specs since the age of 9.
I do wear reading glasses now as I've got normal age related degeneration but just the cheapy ones from Primark.
I imagine that laser surgery has probably moved on even more since I had mine done.

This all echoes what I have heard. We had a couple in the Bridge Club who proudly had it done and threw their glasses away, only to appear at the card table a year later with new ones.
It is really good for those who need thick lenses and they can be helped and can wear normal glasses- In this case the NHS should pay but they don't.

I had my short-sightedness corrected when I was treated for cataracts, and it has been very successful. I still need glasses as my eyesight degenerates with age, but overall I am very satisfied.

Thanks for all your info,have done some research, reviews from the eye clinics am a bit suspicious about.Its such a faff sometimes.Changing prescription/ non prescription/ contact lenses.Reading in the sun.
