new brain surgery

Listening to the news of this new brain surgery is simply fantastic.
In 1970 I went through a very difficult experience, being fully awake when my skull was cut open. It was due to taking away as much as possible of a diseased scar due to measles. In those days such an operation was the talk of the town with no scans etc. I was in for six weeks after the op. While that chap was able to walk awsy.

It looks brilliant - but I guess by the time it is fully available it will be too late for my OH with his PD. sad

cath9 you too are a walking, talking testament to the wonders of brain surgery, of the times (1970s). Amazing. How tough that must have been.

I read this book recently, not for the fainthearted, but what a man Henry Marsh is:

Fantastic medical advance and great news
Sadly, It has come too late for my lovely papa who had PD from his early 40s. The procedure will not be available for another year as the man we saw undergoing it was in one of the trials.
Wonderful that it may alleviate MS and other linked neurological conditions.

This is fantastic news. It is early days but I do hope it will prove to be beneficial for Parkinson's, for example.

It's marvellous news and gives so much hope for those who will hopefully be given the surgery.

My brother in law is seeing his consultant next February and is hoping to have a conversation that might result in him taking advantage of this procedure. Fingers crossed.
