Broken finger!

If it is very blue make sure it isn't strapped too tight ! Personally I would have it checked out

That's about all they do to it in A & E but you might get a proper splint for it so may be worth the visit to them.
Which finger is it because it depends on the finger to the interest shown

The blueness if half way down and not at the tips, and I am sure that the strapping is not too tight. It is definitely bruising. I can bend it OK, so tendons operating.

Middle finger! - left hand I am glad to say.

But no flute playing just now.

Yes - several people have previously suggested that I should change my name!

When I broke a middle finger all they did was strap it to the ring finger. No special splint. it did not take long to heal.

Must have sounded grim to actually hear the crack.

When I fell, I was carrying a carrier bag with a plastic filing tray in it (don't ask) I thought to myself "There goes the filing tray" when I heard the loud crack. I was more concerned with the dislocated shoulder, but the finger was blue and sore, so it was Xrayed too. After setting the shoulder, the doctor said "Oh, by the way, your finger is broken" !!!

When I got home from A&E I looked in the carrier to throw out the "broken" filing tray. It was perfectly whole.

Just had 2 ops on a broken little finger, also broke right arm which is now full of metal, surgeon said too many people ignore finger and toe breaks and they MUST be checked out, as if not corrected properly they can cause problems in the future. Quick check perhaps ????

Ouch - felice is right Mishap, get it checked out. I broke a toe, rushing around tidying up, in bare feet. I felt a plonker for doing this, and for adding to the chaos at A&E, but the hospital were great, strapped it up and gave advice. The advice didn't include 'wear shoes when rushing about', but I have done since that incident

Mishap I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it takes 6 weeks for a broken toe to heal and a finger will be similar. The good thing is that as the weeks go by it becomes less painful. You were very unfortunate.
