Becoming 70yrs old

I'm 70 in October.

Any advice for the years to come? smile

Two pieces I've been given:

Spend it, don't save it!

If you always wanted to go somewhere - go!

I’m 78 and still trying to make myself spend and Australia is now never going to happen but it’s good advice.

Spend!

Go where you can, while you can.

Go where you have curiosity and learning

Go where there is a chance to let go and leave behind that which troubles.

Share what you learn about different peoples, eyes wide open, and the visual beauty you find.

Yes there are times and circumstances when we cannot do that.

If you have means give some to those who have not as well, or where you go, consider what your money is doing to help those working to help you enjoy your stay.

personally, like the 3 times I was able to go to Crete, 10 or so years ago (had the means and someone to travel with as I don't cope alone away from home:

I was as interested in what it was like for the non tourists, the non ex pats, those in remote parts, the customs and realities of the place as well as the extraordinary beauties, the tapestries of different lives lived wherever you go.

I'm 80 now and those 10 years from 70 zipped by so quickly. Do the things you want to do and can afford, enjoy your life. My health has taken a down turn and the things I put off are not possible now. Enjoy life with small or big pleasures, good luck.

You really have reached an age where you should be able to do what you like, wear what you like, and eat what you like. You don't have to pretend to like things because of what other people might think. It's perfectly acceptable to admit that you don't like a particular TV show, or a particular person. Other people seem less keen on trying to convert you to their ideas and it's really quite liberating.

I like to treat myself, and 70 is the perfect reason. But then so is 65, 66, 67 and so on. Spend, spend, spend, the best hotels, the scheduled flights. Try a few new destinations, and see what else you can pack in while there. I'm going to Zürich and Basel, Switzerland, in December, then on to Strasbourg and Colmar for Christmas markets, killing a few birds with one stone, at 68 years, and more to come.
Do it now. Enjoy it!
