Gladioli

I usually do very well with fuchsias, but this year they've been useless. I think it must be the weather too.

Dahlias haven't done well either. Some of them didn't flower at all, though they had lots of healthy foliage.

Could be, mine look very healthy, but have no flowers.

Ironically I have grown gladioli for the first time ever this year. I was given a box of corms from Sainsbury’s, put 5 of them in a large pot with some stakes and hey presto! The 5 I put in the border flowered but didn’t grow so tall. They were all a very dark purple.

Fuschias in troughs have been ok; the one in the ground didn’t have as many flowers as usual.

I water the pots using water from the butts but tend to leave the things in the ground to fend for themselves so I guess the long dry period has resulted in fewer flowers.

My fuschias in a pot are the only things to have done really well apart from my tomatoes also in pots which have loved the warmth.

Last year,my peonies were incredible.
I have some in the borders and some in pots .
This year - not one bloom has appeared .
So not just my gladiolis are a disaster !
