Post is making me hungry! Tbh I cheat and use a Colmans mix. Basically browned beef, softened onion, vegetables, for me carrot and swede.
Very important part, dumplings. 😊 Bit reluctant to add to already high cholesterol, even with lean beef and made them with stork instead of beef suet. Not sure tbh if it's any healthier. Trans fats? Have it on v good authority than vegetable suet works. Easy to make and just add 30 mins before end of cooking time. Lid off 10 mins before to brown them.
Not the most fuel friendly dish, took 2 hours plus in fan oven but OMG delicious. Sure pressure cookers, maybe slow cookers would be easier on energy costs.
Don't neglect, or forget, the humble dumpling. 😁
