I had a little smirk when my daughter had some 70s music played at her wedding.

Loved Elton’s early hits in the 70s, glam rock artists like Slade and TRex, Neil Diamond and ABBA.

Oh and anything Motown.

I think the 70s was the most diverse era in music. The decade started with the hippy era, moved to glam rock, heavy rock, West Coast USA soft rock, then punk then headed into romantic rock by the end of the decade. In between there were some really awful things- brotherhood of man, agadoo, there's no one quite like grandma, mother of mine and shadduppa ya face- to name but some! As well as some wonderful songs from every genre.

I confess I wasn't a Motown fan.

I agree with Grandmabatty that it was a very diverse decade, so I still had plenty of choice.

Now that is just a classic. Doesn’t matter how many times I hear it I never grow tired of that voice. Pure soul.

I was a big rock fan (still am) and loved Genesis, Yes, King Crimson and Led Zeppelin as well as Deep Purple and Boston. I also loved singer/songwriters of both sexes such as Neil Young, Roberta Flack, Joni Mitchell and Jim Croce.
I still play the music of the 70s.

That is my musical era - still in primary school at the start of the 70s and legally an adult before the end of the decade.

I loved most of the chart hits, from glam rock, through to country music, and most things in between..
Actually, I wasn't a fan of punk or Motown, but would always sing along to absolutely anything that was playing, even the stuff I didn't particularly like. I bought myself a little transistor radio when I was 12 and it went everywhere with me.

When Bohemian Rhapsody was released, it blew my mind, as it was so different from anything that came before it!
If I were to make a list of my personal top ten favourite songs of all times, it would still be on there. Others might be Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty and Music by John Miles, though in all honesty I think it would be very difficult not to extend the list from ten to at least a hundred.

I was a rock fan, but I also like gentler music by singers such as Sandy Denny.

I'm a later 70s punk here. That's where I cut my musical teeth, and I'm still listening to it now - through the years I've embraced rock, metal, indie, goth, emo - you name it. I'm still going to gigs and love discovering new bands and new music.

Yes to all of those.
Especially Led Zeppelin. For years they played the hallmark guitar riff that goes with ‘whole lotta love’, my all time favourite.

Edgar Broughton Band, Frank Zappa as well as the more well known, just caught the tail end of the hippies. I really didn’t have the thighs for crushed velvet!

If I want to shed a few tears and feel sorry for myself, it’s Time in a Bottle, Jim Croce. Otherwise Motown, Marvin Gaye, etc.

Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Love them. Part of my OU degree includes a module on Progressive Music of the 70s. I gave a presentation on Ramble on by Led Zeppelin.

Claim to fame - I was at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival. I saw Hendrix!
