A few years ago I had a terrible cold, the sort where you don't want to bother with anything. As we had visitors coming, I staggered into the kitchen. Put the oven on to warm up, prepared the turkey, threw it in the pan, threw the pan in the oven. The oven went bang and packed up. Electric element gone. No way to cook the turkey. I opened the bottle of sherry. Happy Christmas!
Wonderful Maw. Just how I would do it if I were at home. We have opted out this year and have everything prepared for us at a wonderful hotel in Wiltshire. We arrived yesterday and leave on Friday. Everything you could wish for including a surprise christmas stocking left by santa outside of our door. Enjoy your christmas everyone and for those who are on your own or feel sad we are with you in spirit. Lots of love from Carole and DH.x
Helped serve crew with their Xmas dinner today but no wine was opened for their lunch. Work has to go on for those working on board so no imbibing until later on for them. Pity - it might have made their jobs just a bit lighter!
Senior officers' dinner tonight but I'm sure a little bit of wine will go down well, except for those who have to return to their posts. (It won't do to have staff staggering at work - the sea does enough to our gaits!) I hope chef cooks up a storm down in the kitchen!
CHEERS!
Greetings to everyone from the seas of south New Zealand.
