Good morning, Michael and all GNs from still dark South Yorkshire where it feels quite mild today. I have been awake for hours. I went to bed last night with an awful cold - couldn’t stop sneezing yesterday afternoon. It seems to have dissipated overnight but I feel totally washed out.

I went to the garden centre yesterday and bought some plants for the front door planter, and compost. Had a good wander round but they are in the process of changing all the plants to reflect the season, so I couldn’t find what I wanted but came away with ideas for next year.

This afternoon I am supposed to be at school, but will see how I feel when I’m up and around.

Have the best day you can, folks.

GillyMo Tue 13-Oct-26 05:15:50

Good morning from mid-wales where it is raining but still quite mild.

Yesterday was a lovely quiet day spent chatting about old times with my relative. We also video called my DD and three year old grandson for about an hour. Nice to see him playing. A short stroll to the church and back. Saw a red admiral butterfly making the mist of the mild weather.

Today for dinner I'm making roasted chicken and veg followed by some chocolate pots with shortbread biscuits. More reading this afternoon.

Best wishes to all.

Good morning from Bristol.
Readied myself for a full week again - why is busyness like buses, you have nothing going on for weeks, then everything happens at the same time?
Yesterday, I did some housework, helped my neighbour whose with some computer stuff on my pc, as hers is sulking, delivered the notes round the estate, went to Tesco. In the afternoon, I went to have my glasses straightened, prepared cooked and strained two lots of quinces which I shall sugar and set this afternoon, not-WI committee meeting in the evening…
Today, my 1.5 mile walk to Spanish, the chiropodist comes after lunch, then finish the jelly. Goodness me.
I hope you ar3 all keeping safe and content. Carpe diem 🌹🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a rainy Cornwall where a lovely fresh breeze is wafting through my open window and moonlight is making the wet leaves on the trees sparkle.

Well my plans yesterday took a u-turn when halfway through my bus journey to the sewing group the owner of the salon beneath my flat rang to say that her salon was flooded and water was coming through the ceiling light at a rate of knots. I jumped off at the next stop and dashed home and found her paddling around - the leak must have been going on for at least a day. I grabbed every towel I own and laid them on the floor against her desks while she went to the café next door to borrow a mop and bucket. Having rung our landlord we noticed a random plumber parked across the road who had just come out of a job nearby and he very kindly brought over a water vacuum and turned off the water supply to our building. Then our landlord turned up with his plumber who found a rusted pipe under my bath to be the culprit. A shop up the road has offered the salon owner a room for a temporary salon so she doesn't lose work. People are so kind.

After that I grabbed my favourite book, took a bus to another town and had half a pint of Ruddles ale in Wetherspoons. 😁

I assume today will be calmer as I'm meeting a friend for coffee and a bacon bap at our favourite pasty shop just down the road from my flat. After that I'll see if I can get to yesterday's music library as planned, without any mishaps.

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.

I'm feeling pretty ropey too, Greyduster, similar to you. DH has just left for the office. I had hoped he might offer to wfh today but I know better than to ask.

I'll go to be weighed at Slimming World, but won't stay in case my lurgy is infectious. I've tried really hard this week so I'm hoping for a loss. I checked my measurements at the weekend and I've lost an inch off my upper arms and thighs and 2 inches off my waist which is the important one.

I was very sorry to read StillEarning's news yesterday about her eyesight. It must be very scary to have such a rapid deterioration.

I realised yesterday evening that I hadn't congratulated KittyLester and DH on their anniversary. What a lovely photo. 🥂

Hope MaryDoll and others who are struggling healthwise have a better day today.

I'm going to try to get a bit more sleep before the mighty atom wakes up raring to go.

Love to you all. 🌻

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and breezy from about 9 so I have a large wash on and fingers crossed

Marzipan my heart was in my mouth when I read your post and yes, I agree that people can be very kind

I spent all of yesterday morning elongating and grading a new pattern for my housecoat and I cut it out. Lunch next and then I finished my first quilted jacket, a shortie one and the pattern is hovea with cheap fabric from Pound fabrics and my own bias binding. It was such an easy and enjoyable make

I did some housework, changed my bed and cleaned the bathrooms, all routine stuff and that left me free to start sewing my housecoat, which I will resume this morning

I hope I can get the washing out to dry today, I have two smaller loads lined up after this first load and the sun will be welcome after a dismal sky yesterday

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a very dark and still North Yorkshire. At least this morning I am in less pain, for which I am very grateful and radio three has had some lovely birdsong on , which cheers the morning for me.

I still find myself thinking and making plans for the day, as if I was able to rush about and do three things at once. I know the reality is not that, but somehow the part of the brain that makes plans has not accepted that the "norm" now is different. However I am feeling pleased with the inroads into the ironing I managed yesterday. Really making a difference and so now have that great choice of everything from trousers to underwear. I need that as we are definitely in that autumn mode, where in the morning you need your thick trousers sox and jumper, whilst in the middle of the day down to cotton T shirt and need sunglasses when you go outside, and then back to the jumper etc later on.

Well for once I managed to be the winner, as I got down to the ironing, rather than putting the heating on, and kept quite warm without it, whilst being pleased by the mounting piles of things, storing up choices for later. They have been in the airing cupboard and this morning an early job will be to sort and put away the ironed things and leave space for the last part of the pile, if I get round to it today. But that has to take a back seat in the job list for now.

I need to go through other things including checking on the MOT date, checking my passport is up to date, and looking to see that my driving licence photo is in date, It is easy to get caught out with these things, and lately havent been in that organised mood , checking out such things. So whilst I am feeling somewhat better , I can get my brain to work and sort these things out. I also need to go through my phone numbers, as my brother has changed his and one or two other people have altered such things as phones or email adds. So I need to update both my main book and my diary for the people I contact regularly. These days I have to either have them set up in my phone or with the numbers written clearly in my diary. Gone are the days when the numbers where shorter and easy to remember!

Less brilliant yesterday was my trying to contact one of four different people at the hospital, where I was constantly told that they had high numbers of calls waiting, and to leave messages etc etc, none of which helped me. I had built up myself ready to take notes and remember the questions I wanted to ask, with calendar at the ready etc. and a determination to face things, only to be defeated by the wretched phone!! So this morning I shall hope for a reply from a human being, as there are questions that need answering, and things that I need to check out. Firstly I want to find out if my local hospital can do these injections etc., as it will be a great deal easier to go there, and at least remove the extra hassle of having to organise transport and be reliant on such as the trains, which only adds to the tension. So fingers crossed that today I can get some answers and prepare for what I need to do.

So at the moment I cant say anywhere looks much tidier, but I know that I have managed to do a bit, and fingers crossed, feel more able to get things done today. I did go out for one or two things on the yellow peril yesterday, and got my brothers car posted with a rather tatty 1st class stamp on it. On principle I normally use second class, as definitely round here you do not get a first class service, but keep the odd stamp at the ready for days like this when I know I should have posted it earlier. However I did add a letter to it and so have brought him up to date with news and views from here. Had to write it on a scruffy pad as my decent writing pad seems to have disappeared. Perhaps as I tidy up here it will reemerge from the chaos. Perhaps the loyalty card from the garden centre is keeping it company!

Well had another look out, but still very dark and feeling cold as I open the curtains , so have hastily closed them again. I shall plod along with these jobs and hope to get hold of someone at the hospital . Then I need to check through the fridge, which I havent really done for a couple of days, sort out anything that needs to be thrown out etc, very little I hope as I do try to make sure that I use things in date order and see what I have in for lunch, There is salad stuff but at the moment it is so chilly I only want that if it is soup and a sandwich, sort of thing. Havent heard from Heather lately, which is not usual, so I think that I will ring her, once I am a bit more up to date with things and perhaps we shall meet up at Nero's for a coffee. I think I deserve a little treat for all I have managed to do so far.

I hope you have a good trip into Bicester this morning Mick and meet some friends. Hope you feel a bit better Greyduster today , and if you dont feel up to going to the school, that you might get your planter sorted out. Gillymo sounds as though you had a good day yesterday. Dinner sounds good. Wish that I had a Tardis that worked, I would enjoy visiting Gn's and seeing gardens and admiring all the great handicrafts that you all make. Hope that today goes well for you all and that you have a productive day.

Good morning from a dark Stockport.
I love that jacket Karmalady all your work is so professional.

Yesterday when I went to the dentist I walked into the room to a new young dentist.
I have been at that practice for many years and had been seeing the same dentist for more than 28 years and was cross I hadn’t been told, my chap has scaled down his work which is understandable but I should have liked to have been informed.
The new man was pleasant and efficient and my teeth were fine.

I had a Sainsbury’s delivery late afternoon but was tired early and had an early night, today has nothing planned.

I wish you all a good day with some sunshine.

glammagran Tue 13-Oct-26 06:22:13

Good morning from Wiltshire.

Yesterday was not a good day. We picked up from school and the kids were fine at first. They had been really good company for the past couple of weeks. Then they started fighting and it carried on over dinner until it was time to go home, culminating in GS2 biting GD3 on the thigh. Cue lots of tears, a big telling off from DH followed by tears from GS2. DD2 just shrugged and said “A normal day”. The other GC’s (cousins) did not behave like these two do. I find it utterly exhausting.

We found a handyman who fitted an additional handrail on the stairs and a bar in the shower for my pending hip replacement. He was the first to provide a quote and we are truly delighted with him. He sourced the parts, was absolutely on time and brought a very nice assistant to help fit them. Unfortunately he is retiring next year.

I was late reading most posts from yesterday. I was shocked by Stillearning’s news about her deteriorating eyesight. Sending her my best wishes and hope she can be treated.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Grandmabatty Tue 13-Oct-26 06:22:25

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15° and pouring rain. Greyduster I hope you feel better soon. Marzipan that sounds awful! It is good that people are kind.
Yesterday was busy with the boys. Dgs1 is generally good with his little brother and all his support was needed yesterday as dgs2 was determined to be difficult. We had some epic screaming and slamming doors in the afternoon and I ordered him to the bedroom to cool down. A very contrite wee boy came through later(still didnt say sorry). Dd was delayed because of an accident on the motorway and he coped with that fine. So it was an early night for me.
Today I will bring them to my house for half seven. Then I have a tesco delivery due. After that, I will take dgs1 to his football camp and hare back as a man is coming to give me a quote to tidy up my garden. It's badly needing it. Then I will take dgs2 to soft play before lunch. In the afternoon I will collect dgs1 again and have them both for an hour or so before taking them home. Dinner will be chicken sausages and sweet potato mash with beans. Easy, low fat and tasty. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Tue 13-Oct-26 06:23:17

Glammagran I sympathise!

Ashcombe Tue 13-Oct-26 06:46:48

Good morning from La Sarthe where we’ve had a very rude awakening as I fell out of bed!

I was dreaming vividly and rolled over a bit too far! Very painful knee, elbow and especially the right side of my head where it met the bedside locker. Ouch! DH wanted to lift me but I worry about his osteoporosis and despatched him to get an ice pack. Eventually, with his help we managed to fling me back on to the bed.

Nothing is broken and I’ve lived to tell the tale!

Your guardian angel must have been around, Marzipan, with a plumber nearby!

The jacket is beautiful, karmalady! You are clever.

Have a good day, everyone!
🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Grandmabatty Tue 13-Oct-26 07:01:08

Ashcombe definitely ouch! I hope you don't suffer any bruises later

Melanie61 Tue 13-Oct-26 07:03:43

Good morning from Sheffield

A really bad night. I ended up downstairs watching tv and crocheting at 2 o’clock. I watched 3 play for today’s and I did fall asleep for an hour . It’s going to be a long day.

I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning and one later today .
My last day off for a while.
My online order from Morrisons is due in half an hour . I have got the ingredients for a Christmas cake coming . Whether I’ll have enough energy to do that today I’m not sure . It might have to wait till the weekend.

Take care everyoneflowers

hollysteers Tue 13-Oct-26 07:05:08

Good morning from a dark, wet northwest coast. Fitful sleep as I fell asleep in the chair text for too long..

Routine blood test yesterday and I asked for my blood pressure to taken. Too high as usual, so will be monitored.
After a little shop, I came home and practised songs for quite a long time. I’m hoping to improve my voice, although at this stage, to be realistic, it will ongoing so far. I think the singing tired me and led to my too long snooze. Gone are the days when I could sing for hours with no effect.

In the evening, I’m enjoying catching up on ‘old’ telly and watched a couple of Alan Whicker programmes. Remember him? Very good.

Music club today and one of my songs will be Bali Hi from South Pacific with a nice accompaniment found on YouTube.

Lovely jacket karma and hope you are ok Ashcombe!
Thoughts to all🌺
Watercolour I painted.

hollysteers Tue 13-Oct-26 07:07:00

Fell asleep in the chair for too long, no text🙄 and my voice will only improve so far

Grammaretto Tue 13-Oct-26 07:14:15

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's pouring down here and still dark .
How awful for your poor neighbour Marzipan and miraculous to find a plumber so quickly.

Gosh Ashcombe that must have been a shock! I hope you aren't too bruised.

Lovely sewing Karma. You are so skilled.

I viewed another house yesterday with 2 friends. We all liked it better than the last which has now been sold to someone else.
I shall phone my solicitor today. 😍 🤞 It has a sunny, well stocked garden and a wood stove.

The friends are coming again today to get some more onto the skip which is filling up now. I shall list a few more "treasures" on gumtree, probably free or very cheap just to save them from landfill.

It's half-term here so no Gaelic class.

I hope everyone has something to look forward to today.

Marzipan22 Tue 13-Oct-26 07:32:01

Life is strange, and precious. I might add that the salon owner and I stood watching the water increasing as the cavity above the ceiling emptied and I said, 'Hopefully it won't leave any lasting damage,' and she replied, 'Do you know, Marzipan, I've lost three friends recently, two to suicide and one in a car accident, so in the grand scheme of things this doesn't seem very important.' It's her own precious business and she's worked so hard to make it a success.

Gagagran Tue 13-Oct-26 07:32:12

Good Morning everyone from a mild and damp central south coast. I think there is some more rain in the forecast for this morning. I have an 8.30 appointment with the asthma nurse at the surgery regarding the inhaler she swapped me to a few weeks ago. I shall have to tell her that it doesn't suit me at all and I had to give up using it and revert to my original one. The new one caused palpitations which I have never had before, or since I stopped using it.

Karma I wish you took online orders for your beautiful creations. I would most definitely order that stunning red quilted jacket you have shown us. It is exactly to my taste! You are so clever.

Hope your fall out of bed doesn't have too many repercussions Ash. Suspect you will be bruised and stiff and sore for a while though so look after yourself.

Take care everyone and best wishes especially to those with health problems of any kind. Have the best day you can.

baubles Tue 13-Oct-26 07:34:54

Good morning from slightly damp South Lanarkshire.

My muscle cramp was much better last night, I’ve taken electrolytes and had Epsom salt baths for the last couple of days so that has helped. I’m investigating magnesium supplements too.

Beautiful jacket Karma.
I’m envious Holly, artistic talent and a lovely singing voice.

I’m so pleased that you’ve found another house Grammaretto, I hope you are successful and there are no more hitches.

Stilllearning thanks you for your concern and well wishes.

Having my nails done this morning but no charity shop as it’s to be closed for a few weeks due to lack of paid staff. There is a new manager but she is in training and then has a pre planned holiday booked.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Susan56 Tue 13-Oct-26 07:40:09

Good morning from Shropshire.Heavy rain and windy at the moment but according to the forecast it’s going to be a sunny day🤷‍♀️

We have enjoyed a few days at home but will venture out later for an appointment and food shopping.DH will walk the dog while I shop.We had a lovely video from DD yesterday. They had gone on a boat trip and dolphins came right up to the boat. The excitement in the children’s voices was lovely to hear.

Ash what a shock.I hope you are ok and not too bruised.

Really hoping the GP could help Marydoll yesterday 🙏🏻

Thinking of all our absent friends and mountaineers and wishing everyone as good a day as possible 🦩🌻

EkwaNimitee Tue 13-Oct-26 07:46:40

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle.
I've had a poor night's sleep, waking with migraine in the early hours and having to get up for paracetamol. And my kidney infection, which I thought had been cleared up, made a sudden resurgence during the evening so I guess I'm going to have to request more antibiotics.

Yesterday DS1 and DiL arrived late morning on their way back south and stayed for an hour or so. Good to see them if only fleetingly.
I carried on with a bit of laundry but that was about it, the rest of the routine housework I'll pace myself through today hopefully.

Fantastic luck re the plumber Marzipan! And your landlord reacting promptly too.

Lovely painting hollysteers, I much prefer watercolours.

I was very sorry to read about Stillearnings problems, eyesight is a very precious thing.

And wishing you all a pleasant day.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 13-Oct-26 07:46:45

Good morning, the 11yr old had pancakes, banana and Nutella for breakfast. He has his bike here so is meeting a pal and cycling to school (it will take him 2 minutes)

Oh Ash hope you are not in too much pain.
Glammagran sending you a (((hug))) when our GC go free range it’s hard work.
Lovely jacket Karma

My plan for today is to prepare the veggies for my Christmas Chutney, make banana bread along with a chicken and ham pie for dinner.

The swelling on my treated moles has decreased, but they are really dark and scabby, so no gym and I shall not venture out in public 🙀

Georgesgran Tue 13-Oct-26 07:48:05

Good morning from a wet, but mild Durham. I find it’s often cooler inside than out!
Up and ready for the electrician who has sourced a new element for my fan oven - part of a range cooker, bought in 2012 and I really don’t fancy the cost of replacing it. The manufacturer sent the wrong part and I can’t return it.
I’ve nothing planned for the day, except a hair appointment late afternoon.

Ouch Ash. Hope you’re ok.

Best wishes to all. X
