Good morning from Torbay where it’s still dark.

I haven’t been awake this early for a very long time. Following a couple of weeks of late nights, it seems to be taking me time to adjust to more normal waking and sleeping hours. I shall be at the theatre this morning as we shall be putting away all the props and smaller pieces of furniture that were part of the set for Yes, Prime Minister.

Still dark here in N Surrey and until I open the patio door in the kitchen I don't know if it's chilly or mild. It certainly feels like Autumn. What a strange year it has been this year. I wonder what September will be like.

I am very envious of those with plum trees. I think plums are my favourite fruit especially Victorias. A good day to all.

The temperatures are now appreciably cooler, the mornings often being barely in double figures. It’s been such a peculiar summer - still no more than about5 minutes of light rain for weeks.
Golly, Ash, you are early! I hope it doesn’t leave you feeling too tired; a postprandial nap this afternoon perhaps?
I was rather busy yesterday. When washing the floor, I decided that I would rearrange the living room furniture. This consists of a sofa, two armchairs and a couple of coffee tables. Nevertheless, it required some shuffling about and decisions as the room is so very small.
I went to Tesco after that. When I came home, I made a “vat” of soup and slow cooked some meatballs with reduced beef mince. I also did some sewing, assembling more blocks for my quilt.
Today, I’m planning on going to town to get some backing fabrics possibly with fish to match my blocks, if I can find one that pleases me.

Good morning from Malta where the mornings are getting darker but a sunny day is forecast with a high of 40°C. We are due for five days of very hot temperatures, up to 42°C and an extreme heat warning has been issued.

I have a dentist appointment at 9am, just a check-up so hopefully not too bad.

Yesterday I decided I couldn’t bear the state of the communal steps down to the garage complex (there are 25 fairly steep steps). I swept them then washed them with detergent, then went over them wth clean water and a chamois. My back was aching after all that but at least they are clean for now. Nobody else ever bothers to do them.

Had a message from DS in Bulgaria to say they have adopted another kitten. Her name is Phoebe and her big brother Winston is not impressed so far! I think she looks adorable and I’m envious as I miss having a pet.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and cloudy. Dawn is just breaking. Bellasnana Phoebe looks very cute. Both you and GrandMattie were very busy yesterday! Ashcombe I think you could do with a rest too.
Yesterday the boys were really good. Dgs1 excelled at being a big brother before school and I was very proud of him. Dgs2 went in, no bother, holding his brother's hand. I pottered about at home and even did a little weeding and pruning. The tasks I wanted to do were done. I had time for a lie down before I went to the school library for an hour. Then I picked up the boys and brought them back. Stovies were made and stories read.
Today I'll get the boys at the back of seven and bring them to my house for breakfast before taking them to school. Then more weeding perhaps before contacting someone to remove stuff from the garden. Then back to school to pick up the boys. Have a good day all.

You're an early bird, Ashcombe. It probably is your body clock readjusting after your busy theatre weeks. It's not just the performance weeks, you've had months of preparation and rehearsals leading up to the performances.

It is definitely cooler, GrandMattie, and there's a noticeable end of summer smell in the air.
Hope you find some fabric you like. I'll look gorward to the picture of the finished article. Did you manage to rescue the trousers you tore when your had your fall a few weeks back?

This is the week I'd normally start having school dreams, usually about something bizarre going wrong in the classroom, but I might not this year as I won't be back at work.
I had intended this to be my last year before retiring to mark 40 years before events took over last summer.

Off to my home Slimming World group this morning and then we need to go supermarket shopping.

I'll call by my hairdressers to book appointments for me and the little chap. There's no point trying to phone, they're as bad as the GP surgery for not answering the phone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it’s cool, dry and cloudy. I slept really well last night but woke up cold at five under my 4 tog quilt and went looking for an extra blanket.

Yesterday I decided to fire up my laptop after its sleeping beauty period and see if it still worked. I wanted to find some particular photos but spent most of the time looking at photos of GS when he was tiny! After I’d torn myself away from that, I went out into the garden and had a good clear up of all my poor, sad, dead plants. What a summer it’s been!

No idea what I shall be doing today - I’ll take it as it comes.

Good morning from s somerset, bright and cloudy today and cool nights but no rain

We had a wonderful family gathering here, mostly outside as the weather was perfect. It took Ds and Dil about 12 hours travelling from their home, very lovely of them and much appreciated. Family relationships have been strengthened even more and some of them are meeting up in Aberdeen next year for the marathon, they have already booked

Food turned out very well and simple was better than complicated , eating with the seasons. I got straight into the clearing up yesterday, took me all day but it was a perfect day for quickly drying outside, I used my three airers and the rotary lines. Both elderly roombas were very busy helpers

Anyway I slept very well last night, the house is clean and tidy and I am back to normal today so I am cycling to my allotment, I have some essential watering to do and a bit of picking. The last of my special fabrics arrived and I will overlock the edges and wash them to dry outside today, before stashing for sewing during 2027, Two lovely linens and three liberty lawn fabrics

I was aching so much after the prep work and also as a result of filling the new raised beds, I am so thankful that my aches are just about gone.

Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
Clearing my bedroom for a new window before redecoration is showing me how much stuff I have squirrelled away. I’m also having a new front porch replaced and am clearing away sundry pots, chairs etc.

My cat is not pleased with the change to Aldi’s own food after whiskas or Felix, but will have to get on with it. She has a nice bowl of clean water in the kitchen, but I found her yesterday drinking water from a mucky plant pot in the front garden.

Music club this afternoon, so a vocal warm up is needed.
My internet connection went down earlier and I’ve missed the end of a Somerset Maugham short story.

Phoebe looks lovely and HelterSkelter I’m sorry, but I picked lovely plums from my garden yesterday. There are some left at the very top of the tree, might wait for DS or DD to hold a ladder for those.

Good Morning all from a cool but bright central south coast. There is some rain forecast, at some point in the next few days but I will believe it when I see it.

Another Manx niece has asked me for any family history stories I can pass on to her. She has been doing her family trees but wants the stories behind the names and her Mum (my sister) has told her to ask me. So I have been digging deep into the memory bank for things I remember being told about or which I experienced, to tell her. Verbal history is so important to pass down the generations I think.

Good luck with finding some fishy fabric for your latest quilt GM. I am sure it will be up to your usual high standard when it is completed. Would be nice to see it please!

I’ve got a volunteering session this morning and then I’m meeting a few ladies for coffee at a local garden centre this afternoon. Hopefully a nice restful evening later after being out last night line dancing.

Yesterday I decided to take the bus to Music and memories. Only one on the bus and at the next stop, the doors jammed and wouldn’t open. I was helped out of the emergency exit by the driver. People waiting to get on , so we waited for the next bus and off we went.

It was the usual fun couple of hours and I got the bus home in no time.

Today I’ll be picked up for Bridge.

We have the district nurse coming to take a blood sample from Dh so will have to get him up shortly .

We’ve chosen the carpet for the bedrooms , so they’ll be laid in a few weeks.
Gradually getting the jobs done.

I hope all grans under the weather will feel better today.
Those with worries and struggles feel lighter and more positive .

Good morning, there’s bright sunshine here but grey clouds are moving in from the southwest, I don’t think we’re meant to have rain today.
grandMattie I enjoyed tomato salad made from the mega sized tomatoes, with mozzarella and basil 😋, french stick to mop up the juices. Definitely having again!
The GP was happy with my BP but apparently my kidney function is concerning and indicating kidney failure! Honestly I need to stop seeing anyone medical, I’m clearly past my sell-by date 🫣😵‍💫😁
More bloods needed before the next steps, whatever they will be……
My lovely friend came yesterday afternoon, we spent a couple of hours in the Shed drinking tea. She’s spent a lot of time in Australia over the years and is returning there in a month.
My SIL is coming this morning, it’s always nice to see her.
I need to ask my gardener to book me in sometime, at least half of my plants are dead and need pulling out. At least I know which ones are drought-resistant here 🙁
I’m loving the more mellow sunshine and the autumnal tang to the air. Beech leaves are falling fast, it’s going to be an early autumn this year; the trees are already changing colour in the woods behind us.

Good morning from a cool and sunny day. Here too as in some of your posts the trees are looking autumnal and leaves dropping. Dog walks in weather like this are really lovely.

DH has an appt this morning at the audiology clinic in our local hospital so I’m on tea duty for our builder who has taken great care in preparing all the woodwork before he starts painting. We knew his grandfather when we first moved here and hadn’t realised what a successful business man he had been,owning quite a property empire. He was a very pleasant helpful man who never talked about his successes.

I have some papers to read for a Teams meeting tomorrow. Usually I have 1 meeting a month but,given people being away,I ‘ve taken on additional work over August. Back to normal next month.

We decided last night to have a day out at the seaside . We don’t go just for the day very often as the nearest is. Just over a two hour journey away. We’ll be off in about half an hour and will see a full day if it including a light lunch and a dinner. Looking forward to a walk in the sea air.

Good morning from a cloudy and cooler Black Country.

Yesterday, I booked a RSV jab with surgery as I had received a text to do so. Appointment was for 7.25pm, so walked there as it is only 15 minutes, waited ages to be called in. She asked my date of birth, then said you have to be 75 and over! I said, I had a text asking me to book. So I showed her the text, then I had a terrible thought, checked the NHS No and realised this was meant for Mum!! Everyone has my number to contact her. I was so mortified to waste the Nurses time, but she was ok, said, keeps me on my toes

DD popped into Mums yesterday, she said she made a good job of pretending to know who I was!

Today, I am meeting DS for lunch in his lunch break, not met up since July at the girls birthday meal. He had 2 weeks away in St. Ives then we were away in Lyme Regis.

Such a lovely kitten Bellas looks like a cat I had as a teenager, we called him Marshall!

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, beautiful blue sky and sunshine this morning. A warmer day is forecast, it was quite cool yesterday. I hacked a few more branches from the rampant shrub at the end of the garden, it’s tangled up with two other equally large shrubs so not easy to get at. I could get the gardener to do it but he’d probably cut all three shrubs down to the ground!
I’m waiting for a painter to contact me regarding some decorating that needs done, texted him yesterday but no response so far.

Good morning all, it's 11° C hear in Glasgow.

Yesterday was glorious. People were praying in church, so I took my sewing outside and repaired the cassock in the sunshine.
I was like the parish receptionist/gatekeeper. Both priests were out, and I ended up taking messages and chatting to passing parishioners. I had such a pleasant morning.

On the way home, I stopped at B&M to get mouse traps, but there were none left.
Others must be having the same problem.
However, I began to feel unwell and spent the rest of the day resting. DH made dinner!

Yesterday, I did not want to vocalise, my fear the the mouse may be pregnant, not fat! 😱
We have traps set everywhere, including poison, which is supposed to be 99% effective. Unfortunately, we seem to have the 1%, super mouse, who is resistant.
I don't know anyone with a cat and anyway, I am allergic to them.

Today, I have my much dreaded dental procedure, I hate going to the dentist anyway, but this is going to be difficult, due to my health conditions.
I have been advised, I may have to attend the dental hospital, if the dentist encounters any difficulty.
To add salt to the wound, I received an electronic invoice for the treatment. OUCH!
