Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry and clear at the moment here in Brackley , the forecast says fog which is seasonal for this time of year but also cold.
Today get a early bus go the bakery cafe in Bicester have a coffee and a snack , maybe a beer after , do a shop and hopefully chat to people I know, mind you there are not so many people about shopping due to costs etc.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dampish Bristol - showers etc…
Feeling a lot happier this morning. Yesterday, I was in a towering rage for some unknown reason and would have knifed anyone in sight! I took a load of “rescue remedy” and it calmed me down to my normal, equable temperament.
Having had a bad night, I was very tired for the FAB cafe. I had forgotten that I had asked a very needy lady to help. Once everything was set up, I sent her to chat to people - the reason we exist - then she helped clear up. Perfect solution.
I had a long sleep after lunch which set me up for the rest of the day. I was sewing up those hospice bags, when my dear neighbour called. He needed to let off steam and I’m his choice, bless him. He finds widowhood very hard, poor man.
I’ve now made 8 of these hospice bags; they are enormous at 25” square, and take up a lot of fabric.
Today, I’ve got the delivery and replacement of my cracked hob. No time given yet, which is annoying asi have an important residents’ meeting regarding the signing off of the painting and (some) repairs.
Have a quiet, contented day, y’all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, dry and bright later today

My new second-hand phone came yesterday and what a palaver it was to get everything transferred, especially whatsapp but I did it and felt quite proud of myself afterwards. I have just ordered a protective case for it, I don`t like to see it in its skimpy see-through case which only covers the back, that case was a waste of money

I have a few more fabrics to pre-wash today, cotton twill and a heavy embroidered chambray/denim and I want to make a lentil and veg soup too

Other than that, I will just do bits and bobs

Good morning everyone from a calm and dark Torbay.

Today is our eleventh wedding anniversary. We were married in the picturesque village of Cockington, just outside Torquay and held our reception in a pub there, designed by Lutyens. Later we hope to go there for a meal.

I hope Marydoll is recovering in hospital and everyone else has a good day.

Here is a photo taken at our reception. 💜

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a dark, still morning in North Yorkshire. I am glad to have given up and got up, as have been tossing and turning and a rubbish night, mostly worried about my son. I have the Nightmare song from G@S Iolanthe running through my head, but too early to sing aloud and wake the neighbours! Today he gets to see the consultant, if there are no further messing about with the appointments and so hopefully, at least we will know the worst and what the plans are to deal with things. I am not going to ring him, as I dont want him thinking it is the hospital putting it off again, but am very on edge. I think quite a bit of tidying up will happen this morning, as I need to just do something physical, and use up some energy and stress.

All this week I have managed to get a few things done, but never what I planned for the day. Definitely the borrowers have been around as so many things seem to have disappeared, including my diary, which I must find this morning, as I think I have some appointment or something written in for today. Not on the calendar but just cant be sure. That is probably just the way I am feeling at the moment.

Yesterday was quite windy but dry and quite sunny too. It was market day, and I went down on the yellow peril, needing to use the bell quite a bit as there seemed to be a few buses worth of visitors, lots of children about as still half term and the usual things spreading out from the stalls and idiot vans who seem to think that it is ok to park across the dropped kerb and leave it unattended so long as they leave their hazards on!! Of course, I was waiting for ages, hoping that they had just gone to drop something off at a shop but no one appeared, and of course not one policeman or parking warden around to get them to book them either!! So I then had to turn round and wend my way through the crowd quite a long way back up the street to find another dropped kerb where I could cross!! Gnash Gnash!

I had had to admit defeat, as I have been without my watch for a couple of days and so went to buy the cheapest one off the market , in the hope that the minute I bought that the other one would turn up . (No such luck!)My stall holder who is usually very good at having what he says will have that day, when he promises, today was full of apologies as his delivery had arrived very late and so he hadnt had chance to unpack anything , so somewhere in the lot my hopefully bright yellow hat for winter and my thicker sox for diabetics are languishing and I will get them next time. The weather hasnt been cold so no major worries, but just another minor hassle for the day!!

Must have been a bus from Lancashire in, as quite a long queue waiting for the doors to open in Bettys, and at the prices there ,we yorkshire folk acknowledge it is good, but go elsewhere for just as good food but a lot cheaper price!! So a somewhat frustrating shopping trip, with my back being constantly jarred and the paths feeling much worse, but no doubt just my bad day. I was pleased to land up in Cafe Nero, for a sit down and a decent coffee. It seemed a bit quieter , but still plenty of people about and I was happy to find a comfortable seat and enjoy my coffee. A lady I sometimes meet there, who has a similar attitude to life was already there and reading Private Eye! My goodness that has been on the go for many years. I used to get it years ago especially when I was living and working in London, and it cheered up longish delays in the tube on the way to work at Overseas Telegrams. Ah can it be true that that was more than 60 years ago?

Back at home I planned to get a bit more organised but no such luck, as had things that needed to be done, several phone calls and again things that should have been to hand somehow disappeared. So I did what I could and had a meal and then off to whist. With the clocks going back, a much darker journey, and plenty of idiots who do not seem to know or care where the dipped switch is for their lights.

We had a lot less than normal as two people were ill, and another half a dozen had gone off to Yarmouth for a whist week holiday, but it was still very pleasant, and kept my mind off the things that were worrying me. Some very strange hands all night and a lot of cross trumping etc., and I started very badly with a hand with no trumps at all and won just 1 trick, but at least that meant the only way was up from there. Well in the end I won a minor prize and also a raffle prize, so came home with very healthy and good prizes of green grapes, some lovely plums and large oranges plus a jar of marmalade , so did very well and got home very weary with my back bad but pleased I went as it gave me a couple of hours of something else to think of.

So the plans for this morning are after my shower to get the bedding in the washer and hope that it finishes in good time to let me put it out on the line, before I go to the meeting. All the while searching for diary, key, good pen, watch and several other things that have gone walkabout. I havent checked for any messages but hopefully the cleaners will be here this afternoon to sort out the bed and give the carpets a good hoover, as this week I have been struggling so the hoovering got left .The fridge needs a sort out, as it has been a case of shoving things in in a rush instead of getting it all in the right date order, but what I actually get done today will not need careful thought or use of brain power other than put shoes on take slippers off variety.

I hope you have a good trip into town Mick and the weather is kind to you. Wishing everyone a good day, managing to get jobs and things sorted easily. The old message from the war days of "Keep calm and carry on" should be my motto for the day, but perhaps we can alter it to Keep calm and enjoy something, to be our motto for today.

Congratulations Ashcombe and that is a very lovely photo

karmalady Thu 29-Oct-26 05:56:45

Madeleine I do hope the news is good news. I agree, be busy to try and take your mind off it

Ashcombe Thu 29-Oct-26 05:58:30

Thank you, karmalady! 🥰

Good morning from a mild Herefordshire. Actually managed to dry a load of washing outside yesterday.

The little dog I had been looking after being returned to his faithful owner, I am now free to set out my puzzle table and start on a new puzzle which was a present last Christmas from DS. It is from the Country Cottage collection from Ravensburger. I shan't do that for too long though as I want to go into town to get some pferrernusse for after dinner.

Happy Thursday all.

Happy Anniversary, Ashcombe. 🥂

Happy anniversary to ash and oldd! 🥂🍾

RosesandLilac Thu 29-Oct-26 06:32:59

Good morning, it’s damp here in south Glos, hopefully it’ll dry up later so today’s washing can be hung outside.
DGS2 constructed my Lego owl yesterday, he’s a Lego wizard 😍
It’s so lovely having them here, lots of laughter and chatting.
They went for a long local walk, enjoying the wonderful autumn colours in the sunshine and doing a route that they haven’t done for some years.
They plan to return home via another walk at Saville Gardens and Windsor Great Park; DS took us there probably 25 years ago soon after he and DDIL met (and it’s where he proposed to her 😘)
I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful DDIL.
Congratulations to Ashcombe and oldudders, I hope you have a lovely day.
I don’t have much planned for today other than the usual, I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Good morning all from Bournemouth, lovely day yesterday we went to Poole had harbour cruise which the boys enjoyed. The boys also enjoyed the museum, we then had fish and chips which always seem to taste better by the sea.
Today we are off to Swanage a place I have never been but familiar to DiL who has friends there.
Happy Anniversary to ash and oldd 🥂🍾.
Hoping for some improvement for Marydoll.
Safe travels those on the move, virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans.

Good morning everyone from a still dark Lancashire.

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary, Ascombe. What a lovely picture of you both. 😍🥂

Hope you get good news about your son's ear today, Madeleine.

As I type this Hollysteers hasn't posted but I wanted to say how beautiful the pictures are that you post. I love looking at the detail on them.

The social worker visit and meeting went smoothly yesterday. Thank you Redcar for your good wishes. We mentioned the terrible twos and we are going to be referred for a parenting course. The SW said that she thinks we are doing the right things but that it would give us the opportunity to meet other parents/carers of young children to share experiences with.
When our children were small there was a thriving NCT group which I found a lifesaver but that seems to have disbanded.

DH seems to have escaped hand, foot and mouth so far but the inside of my mouth came up with blisters yesterday evening so I guess it's my turn. When I was teaching I rarely caught anything or got ill but 15 months of being out of the classroom has probably weakened my previously cast iron immunity.

Not sure what our plans are today but hopefully we can at least get out into the garden for some fresh air. A friend was supposed to be coming round but when I messaged her about HFM she asked if we could postpone which is perfectly understandable.

Sending good wishes to Marydoll and all others needing them.
Take care, everyone. 🌻

Good morning from a grey Kent. Art group this morning, 3 deaths this year have left us with a very small group. This afternoon I have to clear out a cupboard to find various winter bits.
DGD2 has her 20th birthday today.
Yesterday’s trip to our lovely garden went well if a little damp underfoot, now closed till March
Happy anniversary Ash and olddd
Best wishes

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country.

Walking group walk this morning, with a cafe stop half way.

Happy Anniversary Ashcombe and oldd

Enjoy Swanage Monk, we have been a few times. There is a lovely coastal walk, and not far from Corfe Castle.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning everyone from a fine morning somewhere off the SW coast of Italy, on our way to Sicily, so today is a sea day.

A lovely day was had in Dubrovnik yesterday, especially my morning excursion which was to 'The Lemon Garden'. A small lemon grove out in the beautiful countryside. We had a warm welcome from the owners, walked among the lemon trees, then were treated to a feast of lemon flavoured products - biscuits, cakes, sugared lemon rind, lemon cordial and their own Limoncello. It was delicious!

In the afternoon I did a walking tour of old Dubrovnik, learning something of its history, especially the siege in the early 1990s.

Had a delicious meal in the Asian restaurant last might and then enjoyed the resident Showcast's performance in the theatre.

Not sure what I'm doing today, but the two definites are an Asian lunch and a tap-dancing class this afternoon.

Happy anniversary Ash, lovely photo!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

harrigran Thu 29-Oct-26 07:22:28

Good morning from a dry NE where it is 9° with a forecast of 14° this afternoon.
Had a disturbed night, woken at 3am by what sounded like someone banging on a door or window.
Still have a very painful shoulder and neck which is making every task difficult.
Nothing planned for today so will just relax and watch some TV.
Hope Marydoll is feeling better.
Have a good day.

harrigran Thu 29-Oct-26 07:23:56

Happy anniversary Ashcombe 🥂🍾

Redcar Thu 29-Oct-26 07:26:21

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s grey but a mild 10 degrees this morning. I think a fine day is forecast.
Yesterday’s coffee morning in the church hall was enjoyable, I met up with several people I’ve known for years but haven’t seen recently so it was good to catch up with their news. DD2 called in for a brief chat just after lunch.
I have an Ocado delivery this morning, with some items missing unfortunately. My hairdresser is coming this afternoon , I think she may need garden shears, my hair has grown a lot and looks like an overgrown shrub!

latedecember I’m glad your meeting went well yesterday, it could be helpful to meet up with parents also enduring the terrible twos! I hope the hand, foot and mouth isn’t too uncomfortable and clears quickly. I hadn’t realised it was so infectious.

Happy Anniversary ashcombe, I hope you have a delicious meal later.

madeleine I hope you have good news from your DS after his visit to the consultant today.

Hoping for better news from marydoll today, it would be so good if the hospital could sort out all her medications so that she’s able to resume her usual busy life.

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Thu 29-Oct-26 07:28:50

Good morning Mick and everyone from a clear-skied Carlisle where the moon is shining brightly.
My body clock is still affected by the clock change in that I'm waking up at 4am. I just turn on the World Service and it usually gets me dozing on and off till it's time to get up.

I waited until the rain stopped yesterday and went for a walk after morning coffee. There were a lot of leaves and twiggy bits down after the storm but only one tree, surprisingly not one of the big old ones. It's getting slippy under foot in places so I think I'll have to look for a pair of well cleated boots, maybe my now little used walking boots if they still fit. I think I'm looking for an excuse to visit Keswick to trawl the outdoor clothing shops!

Today I need to collect a prescription, hoping the surgery has added my new blood pressure pills to the list, I don't know when as I have an earlyish Tesco delivery.
I may have a potter in the garden later as the weather looks reasonable. The leaves are dropping steadily off my trees now, my vigorous crabapple needs a good haircut, which I hope will leave a lot of the little crabs which are making a colourful display.

Lovely photo of you both Ashcombe, have a happy day!

Jaxjacky Thu 29-Oct-26 07:34:14

Morning from a dull, dry S Hants. Happy Anniversary to you both .Ashcombe 🥂
I hope your son has good news Madeleine.
I’ve had 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, don’t think I moved.
Granddaughter and friend are back from their trip to Munich late this evening, hope there’s no fog at Heathrow.
Have a pleasant day all. 🦩 🦩
