Good morning from Bristol. It would appear that the rain is going to missus. Again!
Yesterday was my “day off”, so I had nothing arranged. More assembling of the patchwork, changing, washing , etc., of the bedding. I dried it on the line.
I had a birthday present to order for Iris’ birthday next month. She wants horseshoe stud earrings. Most of them were studded with zirconium; it was hard to find plain ones that pleased me. I shall make her an oven glove and put them in there.
An order of bulbs for DD’s “Easter egg” arrived. When I ordered that I didn’t realise that they would come now!😆
In the afternoon, I had the Red Cross ❌ short first aid course. Goodness, the number of things that have simplified!
I’m serving coffee today at church, so shall have a full morning.

Good morning from Malta where we are promised another sunny day with a high of 36°C.

We are in the middle of two storm systems over Tunisia and Naples but apparently they are going to miss us.

Had my treasures yesterday morning. First Dgs2 then DD3 arrived with Dgs1 and they stayed a while before going to trampolining and I went to the hairdresser.

Had a quick shop at Eurospin whilst chatting on the phone with DD2 in Tennessee. She had someone run into the back of her car on the highway and had to sit for two hours waiting for the police to come. Thankfully the lady who hit her was very nice about it, I dread to think what could have happened had it been some nutter without insurance.

I shall do some cleaning and laundry today before having the boys for a sleepover tonight. I do love it when they are with me.

Good morning from Belfast where we are having VERY heavy rain.
It woke me up and it is still raining. Careful what you wish for.
Yesterday a very busy and tiring day.
DH thought I needed to go to Home Bargains so off we went I get my toiletries there.
Next to it is Tesco so of course I went there I get my loaves there.
Then home. Where we had lunch then we both fell asleep!!!!
I woke up with someone knocking at the back door it was a neighbour
He came in and I promptly woke up DH.
After he went it was time to go to Sainsbury's for our pizza. I picked up a few things in there hardware sale that will do Christmas presents!!!!!
A very trying day.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's dry and calm again. A warm day beckons.

Yesterday morning I ended up with over 200 people at the Arts Society lecture, learning about the ghastly Brighton Pavilion. The lecturer was from the V&A. My intention in joining is to extend my knowledge, which it certainly did! Next month's lecture is about Antony Gormley, phew.

As I suspected there were people plenty of people there that I recognised but afterwards I'd had enough of people so I walked through shady sub-tropical gardens to a beach and inhaled the lovely fresh air.

Today I'm at a sewing workshop run by a tailor who I've had a solo session with previously. There will only be six of us, so plenty of opportunity to seek her expert advice. I'm in the throes of concocting trousers from lots of scraps - the ex-hippy in me refuses to lie down - so I have lots to ask about.

Been awake since 4.15 so it is going to be a long day.
DS and family will visit later this afternoon after they have had lunch out with my sister.
GD2 will be doing her homework while she is here so won't really get to talk to her.
Probably the last time I see GD1 as she will be going back to university next week.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining heavily.
I've come back to bed with a large mug of tea.

I shall be minding a small building, a Hearse house, this afternoon which is open for Doors Open Day. It's seldom open and just houses wall panels showing the history of the town. Nearby is a shrine to commemorate the women who were burned as witches in the 1600s. All within the Church grounds.

My DGD passed her driving test yesterday, first time so I phoned to congratulate her.
She's only 17 but very sensible.

I hope your sewing class goes well Marzipan. I'd love to see the results.

Good morning from a cloudy but dry Torbay.

My journey home went well yesterday and I managed the changes at Birmingham New Street and Newton Abbot although I was grateful for help from fellow passengers with my case at various stages. Thank you for the good wishes yesterday. I have used Passenger Assistance once before, Marzipan, and it worked well. However, because I didn’t know that oldddudders wouldn’t be available until the last minute, that wasn’t an option this time.

He has managed to get a plumber, so the leak is fixed for the time being with plans for two new toilets when we go back in October. This time he has decided to travel over in his car, which is relatively new and he is enjoying driving it.

Good morning Micheal and all GN's on a still grey morning in North Yorkshire. Been awake for hours, but very frustrating, as besides normal aches and pains, have been struggling to move about, and have much to do today, but apparently it is going to be at snails pace!! I want to take advantage of the Heritage weekend and in past times have managed to work out schedules that let me see several things and enjoy going behind the scenes in various places. Usually I have marked up various things I am interested in, and on the day go to whatever I am able to, according to mobility. With the wretched week and more I have had I havent even checked through what is possible and no doubt with have missed the place I really want to see. No good thinking of climbing up a lighthouse these days!!

Yesterday I successfully arrived at the library at the correct time, but still fuming about the poor state of the road and path and the library entrance especially where they have yellow lines which are very bumpy even with the buggy with springs. Anyway I shall try to keep going to it. It is seated exercise with bocca things etc. The room at the library is good, and there are some seats that are comfortable for me, but many without arms, and so if the ones with arms are already taken I have to turf someone out to be able to join in. They are very helpful and kind, but I hate having to ask to swap, as it reminds me and everyone there of my mobility situation. Anyway the people were a mixed bunch, very pleasant, and I think it will be worth trying to keep going, not only for the exercise but that effort to get out as the weather gets worse.

Charlotte, the librarian ,came to speak to me with regards to my moans and groans of the previous week about the hassle of getting into the library. She knows me and we have been through some of this before, but she is going to report it in her official way and I shall be contacting the council too and so this will be a start that I intend to carry on until something is done. The building there is quite old and unfortunately I cannot come in at the ground level at the front as it is difficult and awkward to g et there and so the rear entrance is the only practical way. Then this next week I am going to be contacting that hotel about their so called disabled entrance, so I can see me revving up to a run of checking out all sorts of places for disabled entrances etc and checking them out. I plan to contact a couple of people from the womens group who also use wheel chairs and buggies etc and think I shall stage something for the local press, where we at the moment I am thinking if 3 of us all arrived in buggies, of various kinds, mine being the largest type and bright yellow, at this hotel where we can demonstrate that there is no way that what they have can be seen as inclusive or even be an accurate description!! Now where is my helmet and spear, must practise the valkerie music!

I did a bit of shopping and came home to plod along, rather frustrated at the slow speed of everything, not in the mood to be doing it anyway, but still trying to catch up with just basic things. However I did manage to finish off a casserole, which was very pleasant and did extra potatoes, so that I have a couple over cold and am going to go mad and have a brunch today with saute potatoes and my lovely free range eggs and probably a good sausage. Ah Gordon Ramsey has got nothing on me!

So this morning I need to check through the rest of the possibilities of things to visit, make a decision on what I shall attempt to go to, and organise the picnic basket accordingly. I bought a small porkpie from our very good local butchers, as a basis for a picnic and have some cherry tomatoes , so will have some emergency rations with me. I tend to do that as inevitably when I reach a lovely view on the moors or at the seaside, there is no cafe anywhere nearby and if I am hungry it has to be a choice of view or food. This was with my trusty coffee things with me I can stop where I like. I need to go down the market quickly as well for the odd veg etc. I bought some specialist socks for diabetic, which dont cling to the ankle. They were mens socks, so not very interesting choice of colour, but I have to reluctantly say they are what I need these days, and they were comfortable and did the job. Ah the last of the big spenders me! Anyway with casserole made to return home to, and a forecast of some quite heavy rain expected, it will be a quick trip down town and get the Yorkshire Post and my bits and pieces and then disappear off to something, ignoring the many jobs that await my attention here.

Morning from S Hants, 10 and due sun, yesterday I cleaned am, good old bicarbonate on the oven door.
Tesco delivered pm and MrJ played bowls in the evening.
From the one decent day of rain we had last week the weeds have sprung up again, a good hoeing is required. I need to txt my gardening helper, a grass needs splitting and peony re planting.
We might call in our local early evening.

Yesterday, the electrician didn’t turn up. He is coming on Monday instead. I hope. As I shall be in waiting for my new fridge to be delivered there will be nothing spoiling.

My nephew and his wife are bringing their two grandsons over to visit me today. The eldest is four and has just gone into reception at school and the youngest was born in then spring. Should be fun. I shall cobble something together for lunch. Must haul myself out of bed and get cracking!

Good morning from my bed in Leamington. It took nearly four hours to get to Swansea yesterday but we had a great day looking around the University and listening to a couple of talks.
S said it was her second favourite after Southampton.
We arrived home about 6.30, very tired but I'm so glad I went having never been to a University campus before.
There is no rush to get going this morning and I don't think there are any plans for today.

Good morning from s somerset, dry and autumnal today

I have some fabric to pre-wash today, a good day for that, no blazing sun to bleach it. Then a quick allotment visit, to cover one small bed, I have changed my mind about sowing the dwarf broad beans this autumn, I will wait for spring when they are more likely to survive

My allotment tools need cleaning and sharpening and I will start to transport them home for winter storage today

Home again by lunchtime with only a couple of small jobs to do to prep for family overnight stay

Good morning everyone from s sunny mid Essex. A warm sunny day is forecast and I will attempt to do some gardening. There are lots of green shoots on the flowerbeds and I need to find out if they’re muscari bulbs or grass. I suspect they’re grass! The lawn is still looking very brown with green tufts, mainly yarrow, which has spread everywhere. Yesterday I dusted all the upstairs window ledges and the bedrooms, I’ll do downstairs today.

Good morning. It’s a decidedly chilly morning here on the hillside in south Glos, the sun’s just come out and autumn has definitely arrived here.
I will do some pottering in the garden this morning, nothing strenuous, wield my secateurs and start tidying up the pots. I think I will pick the remaining tomatoes and bring them indoors, then I can get DH to empty the pots and it’ll be done.
I will keep a good eye out for the many baby toads that occupy that part of the garden, they fascinate me with their tiny little toes and beautiful markings.
I’m hoping there will be more runner beans to pick, they’re very slow cropping this year. I will also try an apple to see if they’re ripe yet- I like my eating apples when they’re underripe, I can’t stand mealy ones!
So, a few bits to keep me occupied today 😊

Good Morning everyone from the central south coast where it is light, bright and cool. The sun will be up and shining very soon and no sign of rain.

Tesco delivered here yesterday too, Jax, and brought me some frozen stuff which I had not ordered. Luckily I spotted it before the driver left and he checked and found he had brought peas and blueberries which belonged in his next delivery. Otherwise, all present and correct. The delivery drivers we have, are without exception, kind and cheerful and seem to enjoy their job.

Nothing much on the agenda for today. I suspect Dh will need a restful day as he came back from his cycle club ride yesterday, very weary. The group were a faster lot than he usually goes with and of course, he HAD to keep up. He forgets he is old enough to be the Dad of some of them!

Hope the day is a good one for us all with some relief and comfort for all who have struggles or worries to cope with.

Yesterday was a pottering through little jobs day after my early walk. I had a delivery late morning, my new raised beds for my re-planned veg border. I put one together after lunch, a straightforward job but it meant a lot of kneeling on the ground, painful! I installed it in the border and then jibbed at doing the other and voted for coffee.

I won't be out in the garden today I guess, I hope the rain heads south soon, I think you southerners need it more than me.

Unfortunately, I have to go into town, a prescription needs collecting and I'll top up my fresh fruit and veg whilst I'm at it plus, mustn't forget the papers.

Good morning from sunny Greece. DD and DGD went off for a drive yesterday while I stayed round the pool with my sister. Hot but a nice breeze.

In the evening to a popular restaurant full of character and I had calamari. The holiday is worth it for the food alone, flavoursome and good value. We had lots of laughs around the table. The family stayed out but I went back to the apartment. Cats galore on this island so not missing my own too much.

Out on a trip today and Sister leaves for London on Monday, the rest of us on Tuesday.

Good morning everyone from a showery Lancashire. DH and the little chap are still asleep so I've crept downstairs to sit in the conservatory in blessed peace before the day begins in earnest.

Congratulations to your DGD, Grammaretto, on passing her driving test. It's such a useful lifeskill to get done.

Glad your DD is ok after her car accident, Bellasnana, and that the person who caused it was reasonable. It doesn't matter how old or independent they are, they're still our babies.

I smiled at your comment about being all peopled out after the lecture yesterday, Marzipan. DH and DD often feel like that!

Sounds like you've got the bit between your teeth, Madeleine, and good for you! My MiL had mobility issues for the last 2 or 3 years of her life and it often made places inaccessible or difficult to access for her. I sometimes find it tricky out and about with a pushchair, but the little chap will grow out of that in time.

Hope you find somewhere interesting to explore.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy ☁ and overcast Northampton. Rain forecast later so need to get out early to miss it.

Spent yesterday morning with duster and Shark; will need to wield them again next week as my next cataract surgery is on Thursday and they tell you to avoid any activities involving dust or dirt. So I will be washing the floors, changing the bed and getting washing done, vacuuming upstairs etc.

Had a good afternoon gossiping with friends and enjoying coffee and cake; afterwards I managed to get my daily mile in - I actually think I am losing weight!

Planning on a visit to my rugby club's shop this morning as I am thinking of getting a new shirt before the season starts. I will then walk to our little retail park for a few items. Will try to watch the match on tv this afternoon if I can find it - it has moved from BT/TNT Sport to HBO Max.

So need to cut the lawn as it is growing fast. Only 3 weeks ago it was yellow!

DGD2 is at a Festival called Brandywine. Seems to be based on Middle Earth and the Hobbit. People dressing up and taking part in various crafts, and learning Folk Dancing et. Apparently she is loving it. She will be off to University in 2 weeks.

Tonight we have been invited to a Quiz with a fish and chip supper. Last time we did that in December we won! Same team from MrJ's cycling club.
