Put it in cash machine and said I only had £89! Did it again and right amount showed.How could this happen?

I haven’t had that experience - but I suspect it is showing the balance of someone who was immediately in front of you . You might not have pushed your card right in.
In any case, check with your bank .

The only thing I can think of is a pending transaction that may have cleared in the short time it took to try a second time. That you say only £89 indicates that it would have been an incoming amount.

As it’s the end of the month is there a regular payment you expect?

Look at your statement to see if it ever showed a balance of £89 or if you can reconcile the £89 in any way.
