Good morning from a clear, dawning Bristol. It would appear that we had a teeny shower in the night as the road and pavement are wet! It will have freshened the air a bit.
I never did the church cleaning as the work is unfinished and the church looked clean enough.
The new heating chandeliers look lovely and as though they had always been there. A lot of people came to coffee; I suspect they felt very alone what with family holidays, etc. this is a very empty/lonely time of year.
Apart from church this morning, there is nothing for me to do/see today.

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast wth a high of 31°C (feels like 36°C).

After the boys left yesterday I washed their sheets which dried quickly outside so I remade the bed ready for their next visit. I’m hoping it might become a regular event!

This morning I will do my half hour on the crosstrainer before going to Mass after which the weekly FaceTime chat with my pal in Leicester. She’s had a frustrating week so I shall no doubt need to lend a sympathetic ear.

Good morning from a wonderfully rainy, cool Cornwall. My patio plants are almost grinning.

We had quite the craziest birthday celebration for my grandson yesterday on a very windy, overcast, would you believe cold and eventually rainy beach, but we persevered ignoring the inclement weather. My nephews from London, my sons and grandchildren swam for ages. We were a large crowd of family and friends, chatting away and all took our eyes off my nephew's four-year-old son who we knew wasn't near the water. It's a tiny, safe beach and he was happily digging in the sand until, observing a nearby family's fairly large barbecue with obvious flames, decided it needed dousing and poured a bucket of sea water on it!

Obviously we were all mortified. The other family were amazing and really kind about it and quickly relit their barbecue. The little boy has a problem speaking, although he's bright enough, so he couldn't tell us why he did it. Barbecues don't usually have flames rising up so we think he was trying to be a fireman. 🤔

Today I'll hop on a bus to church and then wait to hear what fun the younger generation are concocting. If it involves The Eden Project I'll pass on that. Lovely as it is I prefer it in the quieter months.

Good morning from an overcast N Surrey. There is quite a breeze, but it is not as cool as I would like.
After a cup of coffee I will water some pots. The grass and garden is beyond help now. The grass will revive in the autumn but the rest of the garden plants will need to be dug out.

I hope to read in the news head lines that the wild fires in France and Spain have died down. Terrifying for all involved.
A quiet pottering day today. I have started a new book which zi think I am going to enjoy.

Good morning from Sheffield

I did absolutely nothing yesterday, I felt sleepy all day. So I gave in and rested. Slept all night too.
Today I am ready for anything.

It’s a bit drizzly today but I think it’s going to clear up. We have a big music festival in Sheffield this weekend. It’s very popular but not my cup of tea . My DD has been there for the three days it’s on and loved every second.
DS2 and family are back from their week away on holiday. We will see them at some point today.

We were hoping for a cycle ride as well. I will see how the weather brightens up in a while.

Good morning from a fresh N. Bucks. I woke in the night feeling a little chilly and then recognised the pleasant smell of rain after a dry spell. I doubt it was enough to revive the garden properly.
Good and bad news yesterday. Our neighbour who fell two weeks ago has now been moved to a re-hab unit in the hopes of returning home.
A long time friend who has had Parkinson’s for the last six years has now been diagnosed with dementia.

I did finally get around to finishing my painting. I am quite pleased with it, I think I am improving.

Today we have friends coming for lunch to discuss a holiday for next year. We shall eat jacket potatoes, homemade coronation chicken and salad. Treacle tart with clotted cream after. Indulgence!

Must get cracking with breakfast and then pop up to DD3s to feed the cats , my job whilst they are away for the week.

Good morning from south Glos, we actually have some barely-there drizzle! It better than nothing because it’ll settle the dust however we’re heading for very high temperatures this week again and no rain forecast for the next two weeks 🥵🫣
We had a power cut for several hours yesterday morning, a ‘major fault’ apparently, so little done indoors and no coffee 😡😱
So, I did some gardening, tidying up and deadheading, and until power was restored after 4 hours, I pootled around My poor garden, everything is getting desiccated and droopy 😢
--a bit like me, come to think of it!--This drizzle might help a little 🤞🏻
I spent a hour rearranging the bedroom, I’m not sure that I actually prefer it but will leave it for a few days.
More faffing around today I suspect, I’m restless and just wanting the surgery done now; no word of when pre-op is yet.
I’m making banana bread this morning, our favourite, I’ll make one for my new neighbours too.

Good morning from a rainy Stockport.
It has been some time since I typed those words, it is steady and very welcome.
I haven’t watered once so it will be interesting to see what survives in the garden.

I am adjusting to my “lodgers” departure but it is early days.
My youngest GS arrived yesterday and will probably be here for most of the school holidays so I still have quite a full house.
I didn’t sleep well last night in spite of it being cooler, it is one of the things old age has to be thanked/blamed for.

I hope all of you hoping for rain see some today, it is unfortunate though that is a weekend when folk want to enjoy good weather and not over night during the week.

I send good wishes as always for those of you unwell or caring, have the best Sunday you can.

Good Morning everyone from a cloud covered sky on the central south coast. Still feels warm and a bit muggy. No sign of the much needed rain yet.

Laundry day with a basket full of cycling clothes as well as all the usual collection of household and personal items. I also need to give DH a haircut. He is looking more than a bit unkempt.
DD will be video calling later to check on us and we shall agree plans to meet up next weekend when they are back in our area at their friend's birthday party.

Good morning from a dull Berkshire. My sister came over from London yesterday and with my DD, we went to Evensong in Windsor Chapel with a choir from Alabama. Sister had been in the castle before, but not the chapel. She’s history mad, so it was just the place for her.

We then had a meal on the river and she amused me so much, I had an uncontrollable laughing fit. “I’ll have what she’s having” a nearby diner said. It was a lovely evening weather wise.
We came back to DD’s flat by cab and had a late night.

DS and DGD arrive later today and DD is cooking a meal. Tomorrow we go into Surrey for my BIL’s funeral.

Yesterday was a day of doing very little, I had been poorly during the night so stayed in bed until lunchtime.
I didn't go in to the garden, it was mild but very windy.
Another quiet day today.

Good morning from a grey W Kent, no sign of rain yet.
A busy house with DD1 and family installed for various lengths of stay. They did little yesterday as having come from the far North they are finding the heat heavy going. Worse to come on Wednesday I think.
I shall cook a chicken Sunday lunch, try and find some pudding and then DGS2 is off to collect his girlfriend off a train in London. She will just have to take us as she finds us the house is now officially untidy.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s rained steadily through the night. The decking outside my front door is soaked. Alexa says 19°C today with rain.

L’il Miss slept over and she’s currrntly beside me on the bed playing a game in my iPad. She arrived at
5pm with a small backpack holding her summer PJs toothbrush and two teddies so cute for a nine year old. We
went downstairs to the Loungers bar below and shared tapas - I said let’s practice for Spain next month! We came up to put on our PJs and watch Mean Girls and shared some Haribo.

Once she goes home mid morning I plan to get the bus to the Trafford Centre and go to the cinema there as I’d like to see The Invite.

Later, at tea time I’m invited over to have curry with the family - I think it’s their way of saying ‘thank you for giving us a Sunday lie in’! 😁

Good morning apparently it’s cloudy outside with 10% chance of rain during the morning still in the 20° s

I had a lovely day yesterday with my pals, gorgeous food, lots of chatting and laughter we ended it with a walk through Old Leigh and an ice cream sat on a bench by the little beach.

Today DD and The Imp are coming here for a late lunch, The Imp wants to come over and play in the water beforehand.

Up in west yorkshire it's raining well, moorlands fires can get extra dousing, plants will be loving it. Another spell of hot weather expected end of week. Enjoy the rain. I bet Europe would love some.

Good morning from a cloudy but slowly brightening Black Country, where it rained overnight.

Yesterday, I decided to get the Carpet Cleaner out and clean the carpets. Not many 2 bedrooms, stairs and landing and a big rug in Living room. The colour of the water in the tank was embarrassing. MrJ cleaned all the woodwork and Uvpc outside.

Today we are thinking of going to Worcester for a few hours on the train. Walk along river, lunch out. Now it has cooled down a bit should be pleasant.

We had a lazy day yesterday after our long day out on Friday and I’m still tired this morning but will aim to go to church. A rehearsal for Yes, Prime Minister to attend this afternoon.

Good morning from s somerset, it is drizzling, hurrah it is better than nothing

Yesterday was so busy, first the allotment and then the tip with a load of cardboard that I had been saving but the allotment no longer needs it. I met another allotmenteer, very nice man and a year older than me, he, like me, is getting his plot sorted for ease in future years and he also cycles

I continued with pattern -maker culling. I was not sure about Sinclair, they come in petite sizes so I ran up a tee shirt in a straight-off size as a test, It was far too long and clingy where it should not be. Today I am chucking anything I have downloaded from Sinclair, I am not faffing when other designers do better drafting

I was incredibly tired by 6 so I stood myself up, tidied the kitchen and went upstairs to make the tee shirt, which will now join the pile waiting for re-homing

A day at home today, I have a few chores such as wiping cupboard doors and washing the downstairs floors and I will plod on with pattern-culling

The sun has come out and the drizzle has stopped, oh well

Good morning from an overcast Northampton, we have a bit of rain at the moment!

Yesterday was another roasting day and I was glad I went to the shops early. I missed the bus so walked to the paper shop, paid my bill, and then got the next bus.
I went straight to the new Costa in Sainsbury's and enjoyed a cappuccino ☕ and a sausage butty which was lovely. Got a few items in the store to tempt the cats with, and also some strawberries.
Then over the road to Boots and M&S Food; found a nice steak, then headed home.

The afternoon was spent getting through my Saturday newspaper with all its supplements and attempting the puzzle pages and crosswords.

The cats were not really tempted by the array of goodies I had got them, having no more than a mouthful. I have just shared a pouch of their favourite wet food between them and again just a few mouthfuls each; they have also gone off their biscuits, so might get some different ones today. Think I will try the vet tomorrow. One of the cats is only interested in tinned tuna, but it has none of the essential nutrients which cats need, so not good for them to live on.

Off to the cinema today to meet a friend for a noon-time showing of The Odyssey - I am so looking forward to it!

I have a gammon with Seville orange sauce to cook when I get home which will provide me with meals/sandwiches for a couple of days.

Good morning all from a cool, cloudy, damp, breezy Morecambe Bay. It feels so good!
I attempted to flush the toilet yesterday and nothing happened! DH spent time on u tube investigating and I was dispatched to the local plumbers supply store to buy a valve. And again to buy a different one. The second one fitted and everything was reassembled. However now the water doesn’t stop coming in! Fortunately there’s a stop tap so there’s no flood. DH is very frustrated that he can’t see what the problem is. I don’t have a clue - Karma?
I suspect we may have to call a plumber tomorrow.
Other than an introductory course in plumbing nothing special is planned for today apart from entertaining our guest SDog. It should be down to CDog but SDog doesn’t like CDog so more walks are in order. If we are back in time I’ll put in an appearance in church. Take care🌸

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy and cooler this morning, but with blue sky peeping through the cloud. I’m green with envy that some of you are having rain this morning, the best we can hope (pray) for is an occasional light shower.
I was quite busy yesterday, cleaned the shower tray, swept and washed the bathroom and kitchen floors, then pottered in the garden. I coughed all day, but fortunately not all night. Still coughing this morning, but I hope it will calm down during the day. DD2 will call in this morning but DD1 probably won’t as she has another busy day ahead.

grandmattie, you were lucky not to have to clean the. Church, there is obviously a need for the coffee mornings to continue during the summer.

marzipan perhaps your nephew’s son didn’t like the flames of the barbecue! Lovely that you were able to ignore the weather and enjoy family time on the beach.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and wet. Hurrah! Hopefully it will have helped put out the fire further north. Marzipan that was really funny about the wee boy but I bet it was mortifying too!
Yesterday I had an expensive trip to tesco to get in goodies for the boys. Why do I spend more when I go to the actual shop instead of shopping online? Dgs2 arrived at 12 and got to work dismantling my house. Seriously, he's been a delight. He was all set for bed later after his bath when there was a knock at the door- it was his other grandad and dgs1 out walking the dog and called in for a visit. Both boys were delighted to see each other. Dgs2 then went to bed easily and didnt move until 7.20 when I got up. I had a great night's sleep which is unusual for me. Up only once.
Today dgs2 is building a house on his ipad. Later we will go to the garden centre for breakfast before he is picked up. The rest of the day will be quiet. Have a good day all.
