Do you knock or just walk in?

I would knock. I just think it would be the thing to do.

It’s the polite thing to do.

I too would knock. 9/10 our GPs pop out and collect us.

I knock if the door is closed but just walk in and say hello if it is open.

Mine still walks out to call me and leads me in.

My doctor comes to the waiting room and greets me by name

My surgery has an LED display where the patient’s name and room to go to flashes up but I still knock and wait to be told to come in.

I always knock on a closed door whether it’s a domestic room, a room in a public building or a public loo - in case there’s someone in there who’s forgotten to lock the door.

I was told that GPs like to come out so they can check how you walk or get up from.your chair. Can give them an idea of how you are.

In our new surgery the doctor comes out and calls you. Our previous surgery had a tannoy system. I must say that my reaction there was as Greenfinch's. Knock if the door is shut, walk in without knocking if it is open.

My doctor comes out to greet me. Our phlebotomist is a man dressed as a woman and called Miss …..,…. I’m finding this very strange cannot get my head around him/her 🤷‍♀️ Makes me feel very uncomfortable

We had the screen system for yonks until recently, when it changed to them coming out to get you. Seems a waste of time to me if the rooms are clearly numbered.

But to answer the question, I've always knocked but don't wait for a reply.

I usually knock on a closed door before I enter. It a polite warning that someone is about to enter so gives the occupant time to prepare.
