Brilliant rollator

I have the red one too- the ultralight model. I can pick it up with one hand. It fits into cars easily even if small. I get lots of comments on it, I've had it a year and it's wearing well.

I don’t think anyone should feel the need to justify buying something that makes life better! So pleased to hear you did splash out and life IS better.

Oh thanks. I have felt that I had to justify it and did not want to label myself as disabled unnecessarily and feel a fraud ... but it really has been a huge asset so far.

I have a second hand overland model with big wheels.
It weighs more than the ultralight, so i have to keep up with my strength excercises to lift it when travelling on buses.
We have lots of very uneven pathways where I live and it has given me my outside life back.

Where did you find a second hand one? I’ve thought about getting the overland as well

Luckygirl13 I thought when you said it was very expensive and you had to justify it, it would be twice or 3 x the actual price. I think you more than deserve to buy such a sleek looking piece of equipment. I watched the videos on the website and it looks brilliant. So light and well designed. And asnwers your problems.
DD1 is likely to have to use one when/if she becomes mobile and I will buy that one for her. Thank you for the thread.

My daughter bought me one for Mother's Day this year. Once I got over the shock that she thought I needed one, I realise that I should have got one sooner. I am riddled with arthritis and also have considerable lower spine damage after being injured in a train crash many years ago. My mobility and especially standing for any length of time is worsening. My very short trips to the shops with a walking stick have now become longer mooches around many more shops. Finding frequent places to sit was a major problem but now I have a comfortable seat to have a breather whenever I need one. My son-in-law said to me not to look at it as a step back but to think of it as enabling me to keep active for longer. To anyone considering a rollator, do your research for the things you need and buy one.

To anyone thinking of getting a rollator I can only say to go for it. It is not only being able to do more outside activities but it is helping me to move around more and venture further afield.

I did not look at the overland. Glad it is helping people.

I bought it on Ebay. It was a lot cheaper than new and the seller sent it by courier so postage was rather expensive

You may be lucky to find one in a charity shop or Facebook Marketplace type sites.

The rollator looks very swish. Out of interest, you say your grandchild likes it. Do you think a small child could sit on it facing you if they were old enough to hang on tight? I'm just thinking of those occasions when you hear "Can you carry me, Granny?" and there's no other adult around. (I guess Health and Safety would be horrified at the thought)

Well it does specifically say not to sit on it and either scoot along or be pushed like a wheelchair. I guess that is to do with stability or too much weight over what are small wheels.
Not sure about a little lightweight person!

Nell82 I think if you check it out with the GC's parents and give it a test run at home with them there, you will know if its possible. And if Mum amd Dad say no then you won't be pestered into submission.

Slightly off centre, but when I bought a shopping trolley 6 years ago I bought a more expensive one and have not regretted that for one moment. It has had daily use. I wish I had bought it 20 years ago and may not have hurt my neck and shoulders carrying heavy shopping.

That sounds the ideal solution for those with mobility problems, and must make life so much more enjoyable. I might suggest this to my sister who is struggling at the moment, after back surgery, with numbness in her legs.

Have any of you considered applying for the tax-free Attendance Allowance?
I received the higher allowance very easily. You have to be careful how you out the ridiculous form.

I have a collator and narrow hallway, so I have to take it out backwards.
