I have just bought myself a byAcre carbon fibre rollator. It cost A LOT of money and I agonised long and hard about it, not just because of the money, but also I kept asking myself if it was a step forward or a step backward.
I have mobility problems after long ago hip replacement which caused more pain than it relieved and has got steadily more painful over the years. I have also had a discectomy in my back and now have lots of problems with heavy legs and numbness and tingling and balance problems.
I potter round the house without my stick but always use it when out and about.
In addition because of my heart problems, stent, pacemaker etc. I get really out of breath after a while. The rollator allows me to sit down when I need a rest.
I had a rollator after my back surgery but I could not lift it into the car. This new one weighs just over 10 lb and I can get it in by myself.
I felt a bit of a fraud using it as I am not massively disabled (although I have a blue badge) but my life has become so restricted.
Since getting it last week I have been to an art exhibition, spent a day at a local castle with beautiful gardens and been for a riverside walk with my DDs. I also managed to walk up to the village hall this morning. I am done in now! But all this is more than I have done in 2 years.
So I feel I can justify the expenditure.
It is very light and has some useful refinements. There is an attached bag which also works as a shoulder bag and a lever to press to lift the front over kerbs. I'm very pleased with it .... and it is bright red and eather snazzy! The GC like it!!
I can definitely recommend it! I do not have shares in the company ...
