Ours get trains to the city but drive themselves everywhere else. When I was their age we used to have 1 car per family but now they have 1 each when they turn 18. My daughter has to garage 5 cars.

Santander score really poorly on measures of ethical banking and I have found them to be an absolute nightmare to deal with. Closing my account and getting my money out was one of the most frustrating admin jobs I've ever had.

That’s interesting Churchview, I bank with Santander, and I’ve found them to be the most efficient bank I’ve ever dealt with. The call centre is in Scotland somewhere, and you deal with people who get back to you, and sort out any issues quickly, in my experience. I’m gutted that they are planning to leave the UK, and I won’t be transferring to Barclays if that does happen.

I'm pleased you've had better experience with them Casdon. My dealings were with a local branch but my close friend had the devil's work dealing with their customer service department over the phone.

Banks do offer incentives and this sounds like a positive move by Santander.
