Good Morning Monday 11th September 2023

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 17° and damp. Still too warm for the time of year. It'll feel good getting back to normality, I expect Mick.
Yesterday I pottered about, dropped off a birthday present to my brother. Then later on, DD, Sil and the boys came in and I gave Sil his birthday present. They didn't stay long as dgs2 needed a nap.
Today is an early start for childcare. I'll have both boys all day due to a local holiday. I have no idea what we'll get up to as it'll depend on the weather. Chicken for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning from Bristol. It’s still dark, the street lights are still on. Being in a sheltered complex, the area is lit up like Blackpool prom!
“They” didn’t want to risk having the service outside after that shower yesterday, so we were inside the church.
It didn’t rain again all day, which was not especially hot but very humid making it unpleasant again. I leave my front door open for fresh air and any breeze; it was open until after sundown. My frozen hot water bottle helped at night.
Today, I’m starting to help (occasionally) at the church toddler group. I’ll see how it goes.

Good morning from a dark but cooler Cornwall, at last! Yesterday my son and grandson did a marvellous job in moving the fallen tree and reducing it to more manageable chunks; sycamore is a relatively easy wood to saw, especially if you're young and strong!! It meant I could forge a path to my greenhouse again. Next step is to get it collected by my woodburner-owning friend. Discovered clumps of coral fungi in my horseradish bed, a new, exciting discovery for me.

Afterwards we sat in McDonald's and watched dozens of motorbikes go past, after a memorial meet-up. There were Harley Davidsons in the car park, whicb was thrilling (I used to drive a motorbike).

Today that same son and I are going shopping for vinyl flooring for his bathroom. I get a Senior's discount at the store we're going to, which will help his finances. Before that a visit to my dentist to mend a broken tooth. Fortunately I never mind dental work!

Good morning from Shropshire.The temperature is dropping a couple of degrees but still very warm.

We are travelling to Dumfries this morning where I hope it will be cooler.

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where we’ve had some rain overnight.

I’m not quite with it after a very disturbed night caused by DH’s coughing and nocturnal wanderings. He’s been prescribed a course of steroids to help open up the airways but his sleep seems to have been affected. Anyhoo we’re both washed out and I have work today.

It was nice to be back at Mass yesterday after my holiday. I was told that the church had been closed for a week due to the priest having had covid. Apparently there was no one available to cover which was a shame as several parishioners like to attend every day.

Wishing everyone the best day possible especially those who are unwell just now.

Good morning from a slightly cooler corner of the Sarthe with temperatures of 25 expected today and rain? We'll believe it when we see it.

The first photo is of the field next to us: “The corn is as high as an elephant’s eye…” in contrast to our garden in the second and third pictures!

It’s interesting how random facts about the past of Gransnetters come out eg Mizuna having a motorbike! I can still remember the thrill of riding on the back of a motorbike when I was about 17.

Good morning, thankfully a cooler night here on the edge of the Cotswolds. It’s a cloudy dry start to the week and hopefully we won’t get those temperatures again for a while.
Yesterday I made banana bread, one loaf in the freezer, it’s rather delicious 😋
I have the ingredients for key lime pie so that’s something to look forward to making soon, we rarely have puddings here.
Very unusual cloud bank lightning yesterday evening, no thunder. I will try to attach a photo.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp but cooler South Yorkshire. The sun is trying to come out. Yesterday it rained on and off which was annoying as I didn't manage to get the outdoor jobs done. We had none of the forecast thunder but it was raining quite heavily when I went to bed. Later this morning, I’m going for a swim. I haven’t been during the school holidays but will start going again in an effort to lose some weight, coupled with some much needed changes in my diet. Here’s hoping!

Good morning from a cooler South Downs. Just back from a 5.15 wake-up call from “my tummy isn’t quite settled yet” dog. Still it is definitely improving. I’m sat in the conservatory with a lovely little breeze, what a relief after the past few days.

I’m intending to get some cream of sorts for my knee. I fell on one of our night time sorties in the week and badly grazed it. I still have an open sore which gets sort of pus covering it. Every day I run the shower on it to remove the pus and cover it with a dry dressing but it doesn’t seem to be doing the trick - so I think an antibacterial cream is needed.

Now that the weather is cooling down I shall be able to tackle the garden and begin to get it ready for the winter. Hope I have enough time before the autumn rains. There is still a lot of flower, but I notice that my roses are not looking very good. I think that I may have to give them some sort of renovation this winter. They seem to have flowered themselves to if not death at least very poorly.

Veggie day today so red pepper and spinach frittata, followed by bananas (need eating) fried in rum and sugar with ice cream.

Morning Mick, morning All. After a red sunrise there is cloud cover over our corner of Somerset. Definitely cooler.

No matter the forecast we had a dramatic storm yesterday, it circled for about an hour. Enough rain to please the garden, unfortunately more sand came with it. A quiet day for us, our son tested positive for covid and so couldn’t visit. A faint line, he didn’t feel unwell and wasn’t sure if it was coming or going.

GP review for Mr C this morning, he’s put in a bid for coffee afterwards. Mundane for me, ironing, sorting my phone, some admin and dust removal. With luck time over to begin to clear summer garden tubs, I’ll not disturb the covered in bloom geraniums yet

Good morning from Newcastle. Thank you for the messages yesterday.
It started out very hot but DD2 completed the GNR. By 3pm the dark clouds gathered and we had a spectacular storm. Roads were flooded and the metro halted. With over 100,000 people in South Shields it was absolute chaos. We eventually got an Uber back to the city.
Today we are heading back to North Yorkshire by train then DD2 will drive home to the Peak District.
A very emotional weekend.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels muggy. Weekly shop this morning. OH did it last week when I was under the weather and missed quite a few things! After lunch I will be going literally across the road to my friend’s for a craft afternoon. I’m not sure what we are doing as I was in Australia for the last one. Have a good day.

The Quaker weekend away was terrific but exhausting. I'll take a while to recover. The weather was perfect. We'd campfires and a ceilidh.
No suitable photos without people apart from some of the chanterelles spotted on our forage.

Back to routine today. I have a covid vax appointment which I must change.

Good morning from s somerset and I am very glad to be back towards normal temperatures

Lots of indoors this n that yesterday and it was lovely to see so much of my old stomping ground yesterday via the tour on tv. Nostalgic for me as it was all around the area that was local to me for so many years

Last few days I have taken to having a short nap after lunch, I might keep that going, it is rejuvenating. Otherwise no plans for today apart from a nice morning of pottering and then sewing this afternoon with a brisk walk scheduled in at the back end of the day

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton. Started off sunny yesterday, but clouded over and we had a couple of showers late afternoon. Did very little yesterday; read the papers, my Kindle, and watched some world cup rugby on tv. My team had a match yesterday in London, but I shall draw a veil over the result....

Yoga this morning, then a day of pottering; as it is cooler I may take the Hoover upstairs and give it some exercise. I also need to do a bank transfer to pay the bill for the fencing work I had done last week.
Bolognese for dinner tonight; need to get that out of the freezer.

Morning everyone from S Lanarkshire, haven’t been able to post for several days for different reasons but have been reading messages at odd times. Glad to see you back Marydoll and I hope the cooler days to come this week are a help. Still feels muggy this morning though.

Your poor husband is going through it baubles, hope work is manageable today.

Your extended family news was heartbreaking Ashcombe, all those affected are in my prayers.

Change from routine for me today, I’m off for a heart scan at the Golden Jubilee hospital, youngest DD will take me and I’ll see DGC afterwards so that bit of Monday is as usual.

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk. No rain here and I think last night was the muggiest here yet.

Today is when my friend and I are applying for visas to go to India next month. I am going to her house near Marks Tey so we can muddle through the online process together. When my DH and I last visited several years ago, the system wasn’t available online for UK citizens and our photographs were rejected initially because the background wasn’t light enough.

Wish me luck this time.

Looking forward to cooler weather predicted from tomorrow and hoping that those with health and other worries have a peaceful day.
