Seagulls attacking other birds...

I've always found seagulls to be aggressive. One took an ice cream out of my little GSs hand. Bullies of the bird world.

Gulls are opportunists and scavengers. Useful beasts.

If they eat the pigeons they kill – as, say, sparrowhawks do – I don't see it as a problem, just nature.

I know you’re right Baggs but it’s horrible to see. We were bothered with gulls earlier in the year but now they’ve gone it’s feral pigeons …

I was once in a city centre minding my own business when a seagull swooped in front of me and killed a smaller bird, dropped it at my feet and flew away. It was really shocking, particularly as it seemed to be motiveless.

Also, they are nesting at the moment and will threaten anything that comes near the 'seaglets'. Where I live they took a particular dislike to one chap with curly hair and made his life hell. He constantly had to run off up the road as they gave pursuit and swooped within inches of his head.

Where I live in Cornwall we have to use umbrellas when we walk out in certain places, whatever the weather, as the parent gulls will attack our heads. I've had a grazed cheek courtesy of an angry gull. Just protecting their young. They eat roadkill too.
