We have a large field directly in front of our house. All the local children play on it and my DGSs think it is just heaven to chase about when they come to visit.

Football is the most popular game and both boys and girls join in. One of the children who is about 8 has a false leg/blade and he is equally as fast as the other children. Well the ball has just got stuck in a thick bush and they were having no luck getting it out, so the boy took of his blade and hopped around whilst another child hooked the ball out with said blade no problem. Then the lad reconnected his leg and play has resumed. We couldn’t help but laugh and just love the way all the children are not fazed by this lad’s lack of a lower leg.

I’m am still laughing at Mommawolf’s story on the Good Morning Saturday thread. Do check it out.

Do you have a funny story ?

I love the way that children just accept ‘differences’. It’s such a pity that it doesn’t always last. sad

Thanks for mentioning the Mommawolf post NanKate! I tried to read it out to my H, but was laughing too much!

I love the way children take everything in their stride.

My uncle used to coach basketball, and he had a player who he thought was slacking off. He made the kid run laps once. The kid took off around the gym, and suddenly there was a loud SNAP! The kid, completely unfazed, simply said, "Oh, broke a bolt". Turned out he had an artificial foot and a bolt in it had broken. He went to his locker, got out a few tools, and replaced the bolt.
