Mrs May and her blue coat

Why?

It is probably a well loved and cared for coat which she paid a lot for and is getting her use out of it.We all have pieces in our wardrobe which we are fond and comfortable in I know I do.

I like the coat but the repeated outings do serve to underline same old, same old which we have been hearing for such a long time.

Yes glammanana I have 'go to' very comfy clothes for when feeling down or as at moment have a horrible cold.
One is an old red jumper that onced belonged to my daughter many moons ago.
Unfortunately my 'go to' clothes wouldn't pass muster for a photo shoot. ?

And if she wore a new coat every time she walked out the door we would hear ‘ typical wealthy tory’,

I gather it cost close to £1000 so she needs to get the wear out of it.

I wonder if her coat is the least of her worries, or indeed any other bit of clothing! Did it really cost £1000?!? where on earth is she shopping.

Maybe she's so preoccupied at the moment she just grabs the nearest coat..

Her coat cost £920 from Herno. Got to say I do like it.

I should think which coat she wears is the last thing on her mind. It certainly ought to be. And anyway) how many of us have several “big coats” good enough to be photographed?
Why come to think of it, does JC always wear that red tie?

She's getting her money's worth out of it.
I tend to reach for the same coat for everyday use.

I don't think her clothes ever look good, it's not the clothes fault but she's very tall and gangly and nothing ever fits as it should. I think she should get some clothes made for her rather than the high priced off the peg she favours that frankly look dire.

I think she has more important things to be doing than worrying about clothing. Just as long as she wears something on that painful twig-like body of hers is all I care about.

I quite like her clothing. However in common with many of us taller women she has developed a slightly stooping posture - not a good look whatever your shape but it's one that's hard to avoid if you are constantly bending forward to speak with shorter spouse/friends/family/colleagues. Of course those shoulders are carrying a tremendous weight just now and that doesn't help.

Maybe its her 'Lucky' coat , God knows she needs some luck

Strange to think that the blue coat will be remembered long after Mrs May has left. Bit like Mr Wilson’s Gamex, Douglas Hurd’s very smart long overcoat and Michael Foot’s donkey jacket. To have spent all those years in politics and then just be remembered for your coat. Sobering thought.

She has a beautiful sort of kimono jacket in blue and silver. I've seen her in it couple of times for dresser occasions.

Good on her, I say. It often bugs me, the way women in the public eye are so often criticized for over- or under-wearing their outfits.
Not that I often notice what she is wearing anyway. Oh, apart from the huge, heavy-looking necklaces that she favours, and I guess she could use those very effectively to defend herself should the need arise

I wish I could remove some of the veries in that last post! (Help me, please, pedants and grammar experts - I know I have used the correct plural of very, but it looks ridiculous here. What should I have put?)

I read that Theresa May is 5' 6" - so not 'very tall' as Flexible Friend says. I reached my adult height of 5' 8 1/2" when I was 13. As I'd always been average height till then, it took some adjusting to. I suspect that Mrs May was subjected to the kind of negative and frankly, cruel comments that I was in my teens. the description of her as very tall and gangly, so nothing ever fits as it should is exactly the kind of comments shed have had in her teens but I expect she thought she'd left behind.

I don't share her politics but I hope if I'm to criticise her its on that, rather than her height.

Perhaps it's her 'security blanket'? She sure needs one.

It’s a sort of double coat with a down jacket underneath. I quite like it but she looks a bit round shouldered in it. I know it’s shallow commenting on people’s outfits and appearance, but she is in the public eye and is going to come under scrutiny.
