I’ve just seen a thread about these in the other place (!) and couldn’t remember if there had been a thread on here. Just wondered what other people thought of them. It’s a fairly new phenomenon and I personally find it quite odd. Why would you want to commemorate the place where your loved one died? That would be like me taking flowers to the CCU where my father died and not the cemetery. It obviously brings comfort to some, but I think they become very sad and neglected quite quickly, with weather damaged tattered football shirts/scarves and cellophane cones filled with dead flowers. There is a memorial near here for a young man and friends have left packets of Jaffa Cakes and McDonald’s meals as they were his favourites. I just don’t understand it.
