Xmas cards

Provided the card is plain and has no sparkle or glitter on it our paper waste bin will take it but I am sure that does not happen with every council.

If there is a mini letter written inside I chop up that part of the card so that I cannot be identified.

I keep them until next Christmas and cut them in to gift tags.

I cut a few into labels, but get farmore cards than I give presents. Recycle the sparkle and foil free ones. The rest get burnt in the wood burner the next time we use it (probably tomorrow if the weather forecast is to be believed)

There are charities which accept used Christmas cards.

Community Cards Project accepts donations of used holiday cards, as well as cards for other occasions, which volunteers use to craft new cards. The new cards are sold to raise money to help support The Welcome Centre in Huddersfield, which is a charitable organization that provides assistance to people who are experiencing crisis in their lives. Mine have distinct categories:
1. Really lovely ones do a stint in some wooden card holders made by DH that sit on various shelves
2. Gift tags where possible
3. Where one side is blank, I cut it off for 2 reasons: if really nice it can serve for writing down a recipe or a reminder note for someone, others get used for shopping lists.
4. Finally the recycling bin (unless the information inside is kept so I can keep track of people's news)

My granddaughter's make lots of pretty bookmarks with them and a few gift tags for next Christmas
