After years of buying "real trees" at vast expense, lugging them into the house for a few days, standing precariously wonkily in the stand, shedding needles into the floor and then chucking them out I am actually seriously thinking this year I'll buy a small artificial one. I saw one in Ikea which they had decorated with silver baubles and white lights which looked quite realistic and really attractive, and cost £20. I know they are probably mainly plastic and not good for the environment and my kids will complain, but if it get used for years to come will it actually be that bad?
