Well, not so much early as middle-of-the-night.
Something very exciting happened to me last evening and I can’t sleep. I’ve had a cup of coffee and eaten most of a pot of cottage cheese. What shall I do now?
Dog thinks it’s breakfast time and cat wants to go out and kill mice.

I woke about 2am and couldn't get back to sleep. Got up at 3am.
I'm really intrigued to know what your exciting event was watermeadow

I’ve been up half the night too watermeadow and nina I wish I had know you were there too. I paced around the house as I do (put a wash through, cleaned the downstairs loo, read my kindle for a bit and had a cup of tea) now I’m shattered and I have to go to work .

You’ve got me wondering about your exciting event too watermeadow do share if you are able to. smile obviously it’s fine if it’s private.

I too have been up during the night.
It was the kitchen floor I washed, trying to clean the plaster from the new tiles. that's three times, I've done it now!
Watermeadow, you are a tease! smile

Oh dear, you poor ladies how awful to be so active at night.
I have been sleeping much better just lately a good 6 hours and if i am lucky 7!!!
Off to my knitting group and the library and to pick up something for a Christmas gift which is on special offer at the mo.
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing.

Took me many hours to get to sleep last night. I would normally get up and go into the study, put the computer on or read, but DH comes looking for me and asks why I am out of bed.

I am struggling with raging toothache so have been awake most of the night for over a week now! Dentist has rayed my teeth, nothing wrong with them but she thinks it might be caused by referred pain from when I had a tooth out three months ago - don't understand that myself. My doctor thought it might be caused by sinus problems but after a course of antibiotics, it is no better.. The pain is not in the same place, often around two specific teeth but also migrates to other areas oh my gums. IT IS DRIVING ME MAD!

So I totally emphasise with anyone who is unable to sleep.

I can sympathise with you Teacheranne as my D was here the other day,in agony with her toothache.Dentist can't fit her in for 3 weeks and she's downing painkillers like smarties. She bought some toothache gel from the chemist and found that it eased off to give her a couple of hours sleep. Also some " do-it-yourself " cement filling in case there's a hole there. By the time she sees the dentist it'll have either have gone off or she'll be so spaced-out that her words won't come out. She works as well.

Well can I join the Party as I was awake at 3.00 a.m ? DH is away so I could clatter around a bit. I then put in my ear phones and listed on Youtube Music to a Jason Stephenson meditation called 'The Hammock'. That got me back off to sleep. All his meditations are good.

I put a small hand towel on my screen of my Ipad and close the top so that I can't see the light. When I come around a bit I just pull the towel away so that my Ipad does not lose power.

Woke at 4.00am. Finished my book, put the radio on quietly under my pillow and eventually drifted off to sleep.

I then overslept, I am an early riser and hate doing that so I am still at sixes and sevens.

travelsafar Fri 26-Oct-18 14:32:02

EllanVannin we must be realy lucky here in Letchworth, the dentist i go to will always fit you in for emergency treatment.
If you ring at 9am they have a couple of appointments everyday they hold back for exactly that reason.Your poor daughter she has my sympathy, nothing worse than toothache.

Commiserations to all GN night owls.

Last week I had to decamp to the spare room.
I dont like night time wandering as its too chilly for me.
So it was a case of listening to an audio book and Jason Stephenson's guided meditations.

Nankate I will check out 'The Hammock'
J.S. has got me through many a bad night ?

Travelsafar, I rang my D before to see how she was and she said that strangely her toothache had eased. I then said that toothache doesn't ease just like that as she said she hadn't taken any painkillers since teatime yesterday. I then asked her if she thought it might be neuralgia, still painful but not as severe as toothache.
The dentist had apparently taken an x-ray but hadn't said anything other than the 3 week wait so we'll see how she goes. The gel helped but left a terrible taste in her mouth and the cement she used left more in her mouth than on the tooth.

How awful to be awake with toothache. I thought there were emergency dental services available anywhere.
I can’t do housework if I’m up very early, I’m afraid of waking the neighbours.
My excitement was only exciting to me - my garden plot was sold at auction and I’ll soon have the funds to start all the work needed on my old house.

Cherrytree59 Fri 26-Oct-18 17:04:07

Watermeadow that is very exciting!
You can spend the long winter evenings making plans.
Onwards and upwards. sunshine

M0nica Fri 26-Oct-18 17:44:48

That really is good news watermeadow, planning house improvements knowing you can afford it is a great feeling.

I'm often awake at 4 am it's a real curse not being able to sleep for a full night, I always did once, I'd love to go back to waking up at 7. I did read about someone famous, Nigella Lawson I think, she goes to bed quite early and then gets up in the middle of the night and does a few things and then goes back to bed again. Allegedly this was the sleeping pattern centuries ago. I often fall asleep at 9 pm, usually during a programme I was hoping to catch, maybe I should be in bed then and catch up with missed tv in the middle of the night and then read a few chapters. Anyway from the posts here it seems I am not alone.

Cherrytree I’m glad I have found another Jason Stephenson fan. His meditations are so good. I also like The Honest Guys but they don’t get me to sleep as quickly as Jason.
