Here in Victoria the State Gov. is fond of embellishing new car rego. plates with slogans such as "Victoria The Garden State" and "Victoria The Education State" and road safety messages.
A recent one was "Be Alert. Stay Alive" Followed a shiny black hearse (no passengers) down the road with said plates. Of course, I didn't have my camera! grin

A notice on the door of the tax office:
'This office is provided with a defibrillator.'

English Counties have “defining statements” on their signs, Rufus. Like “ Northamptonshire:Rose of the Shires”

We made up some of our own I’m afraid.

Bedfordshire: Easy to get out of.

Norfolk: A long way between places.

Cornwall: Wet.

The Lake District: Wetter than Cornwall.

Anybody else want to have a go?

Northumberland: A long way up.
